Morning Poll: Were Arizona Wildfires Caused by Illegal Immigrants?

• Who cares if McCain is disliked, we are talking a tragic event of huge loss here in Arizona.  He did not start the fire, but most likely illegals did as that is and has been for years, their known trail to get to the US illegally.  WHAT PART OF ILLEGAL don't you people understand????

• None of these elected officials have any credibility. Aren't the illegals blamed for everything? What about the fraud and the corruption in the system they fail to discuss or investigate? 

• Why treat Dever as if he's independent confirmation of McCain's claim?  They're close political allies.  When McCain got in trouble here, on Monday he called up Dever and Babeu and they coordinated their stories.  Babeu (maladroitly) revealed the phone calls on KFYI.   In their regular fund-raising speeches, Dever and Babeu say cartel scouts have the most sophisticated electronic communications equipment known to man.  Here Dever says they communicate by means of signal fires.  

• Tommy, this is becoming all to commonplace in Arizona...If there's something wrong or bad in Arizona the immigrants have to be behind it. Next I suppose Russel Pierce and Jan Brewer will come out and declare immigrants responsible for Aids, Dandruff, Athlete's foot, Anal leakage and Erectile Dysfunction. Just sayin, Arizona has become a circus and all the clowns are seeking reelection...

• He creates a set of possible fire starters and then he eliminates a certain number from that set for reasons he determnes.    Now he says that leaves only this one possibility so that one must be guilty.    The problem is he left out an indeterminate amount of variables from his set in the first place.    His logic exists only within his set and it exists only in his mind.  He has boxed you into his game and created the rules by which you must play.   His set or box is too small yet you decide his is the only one which exists.      You think highly of yourself for agreeing with him because you think that makes you as smart as the game creator.     You can't think outside of his box.    You lose everytime.     To him, it's a game.    To you, it's reality.

• Jessie, Sen. McCain mistakenly used the fire as the catalyst to show people he wants to do something about securing our border. He could have accomplished as much by simply having said the fire appears to have been human caused. In the same vein, the local county sheriff used McCain's lipglob as a catalyst to get his name out as wanting to find out who is starting these fires, by supposedly interviewing suspected illegals coming that way into Maricopa County. Without an index we can't tell from behind which horse's ass belongs to either of the two.

• The fact of the matter is there is no evidence to undeniably prove that this was started by immigrants. illegal or otherwise. So why hold press conferences to this effect? We all know what a political firestorm illegal immigration is in this state. Why wouldn't the proponents of SB1070 throw gas on the fire? By proponents I mean repugnants! What about the fires up north?

• Whoever wrote this article seems as equally opinionated as John McCain.  Everyone has an opinion...isn't news suppose to report the facts??  Name calling is NOT newsworthy or web worthy.  

• "John McCain's and idiot" Pot, kettle. This is not any kind of endorsement for McCain, by the way, just appreciating the irony.

• It's a total disgrace to criticze anothers persons oppinion just because you don't have their same views. We know for a fact they are probably right, just these who don't like someone wouldn't be caught agreeing with them even if they are right.

• I have to agree with Sheriff Dever, and my opinion has nothing to do with the racial makeup of humans. When all other factors are eliminated and the only plausible explanation for a fire having been started is by those running drugs or crossing the border, then it must have been started by drug runners or border crossers, call them what you want. I listened carefully to what Sheriff Dever said and it doesn't seem he is going out of his way to back or defend McCain's mishmash. Rather, he made his statement based on what he, as a law enforcement official, is seeing at this time based on known facts and criteria. Since the forest was closed to all human usage at the time the fire started someone was there illegally and very likely started the fire, accidentally or not. I suppose it might have been a lost camper who set a fire to alert rescuers...
