Gabrielle Giffords: the Long-Awaited First Photo Since Getting Shot in Face

Gabrielle Giffords is looking pretty good for someone who was shot in the face earlier this year.
Congresswoman Gabrielle Giffords' staffers released the long-awaited first photo of the congresswoman since she was shot in the face during the January 8 Tucson shooting rampage.

Giffords' staffers say the reason they released the photo is to end curiosity about the congresswoman's condition. They want to avoid a "paparazzi situation" -- the gossip hounds at TMZ reportedly were offering $250,000 for the first photos of the wounded congresswoman.

As you can see, Giffords looks pretty good for someone who was shot in the face, but it seems unlikely that she'll be able to resume her gig in Congress -- or run for Senate -- anytime soon.

Her chief of staff, Pia Carusone, recently painted a much bleaker picture of Giffords' recovery than was previously reported, saying the congresswoman uses brief, one-word sentences, and often gets frustrated when trying to speak.

She said Giffords is not ready to return to office.

The photos are the first images of Giffords’ face that have been revealed during her recovery process. This is a remarkable sign that she is gaining both strength and confidence.     http://bit.ly/jzkrVU

This picture is also before they had to put a plate in her skull and that needs to be reported too.

Gabrielle--Our prayers are with you always.  You are a miracle.  We love you and pray continually for your recovery.  May our Lord continue to heal you, keep and protect you and your dear family.

How is somone a "miracle" when they are the product of the best doctors money can buy? As far as the "Lord" healing her, I think not. It is science and Doctors not some mythical entity and people need to wake up and become one with reality and stop with the fallacies of a "God".

Your post in reply to Carol really has no value and it wasn't needed. Shall we be thankful that at least ONE of the many victims lived and is making a recovery, regardless of the genre? Those who choose to believe in the Good Word are certainly welcome to do so. Those of us who believe in Man Helps Man and the Science of Medicine, don't have to share that belief.

But why trash the poster and the story?

I hope she makes a full recovery. So far, she has defied all medical odds and has overcome some tough obstacles. I hope she'll continue to fight. I wish her and her family nothing but the best for a full and speedy recovery.
