Boy, 14, Tells Cops He Was Nearly Abducted -- Which He Wasn't

A 14-year-old Pinal County boy told police someone tried to abduct him last month. The only problem with that is it never happened.

After telling his brave tale of escape to authorities about three weeks ago, the Pinal County Sheriff's Office now says the boy's admitted to making the whole thing up.

Last month, the unidentified boy told police he was walking home from a friend's house near Charbray and Busa Roads in San Tan Valley, when a a man in a white cargo van pulled up next to him asking if he needed a ride.

The boy told police he said no and kept walking, but the man in the van continued to pester him about giving him a ride.

Ready for some bravery?

The boy then said the man jumped out of the van and charged at him. The 14-year-old, however, kicked the man in the abdomen, punched him in the face, and ran back to his friends house.

The kicks, the punches, the white van -- we now know -- were all made up.

In an interview with police yesterday, the boy finally admitted to concocting the whole story in order to get some attention from his friends.

Because of the large amount of media attention the faux-abduction received -- and the panic it created -- the PCSO is considering submitting the case to juvenile court for a potential charge of false reporting.

There should be some sort of consequence for this.  Yes, innocent men and women are sitting in prison as we speak because of this very reason.  There are so many false accusations, most being of a sexual nature and no one wants to believe children lie.  They do, they don't understand the seriousness of it and once the ball starts they are to afraid to back down.  Then innocent men and women are incarcerated for years ,trying to be vindicated, the families go bankrupt and it is a living nightmare!  Yes, three should be some sort of punishment.

how could they even think of 'potential charges" with all the man hour and the waste of time by the police by a kid who has a graduer pipe dream. least he should get is community service and NO tv until he's 25. he will just sharpen his lie for the next time. pity those who have been imprisoned by a lying kid, reminds me of Jonathan Valles. who's own brother knew he was lying and when that was S P E L L E D out for the thomas aubuchon alexander gang they still didnt get it. or want to

False reporters should face the same harsh punishment they want for the accused. Once this law is put in place, these cases will evaporate along with all the money.

James, Great article shedding light on the lies of children.  The public understands kids lie but those who profit from this do not want to acknowledge it or it would end their gravy train. Write about those who abuse Victim's Rights. Where are the checks and balances when it is part of the County Attorney's offices and others?  Where is the oversight and accountability? False allegations are at the root of many cases in the Family Courts where child custody / child support issues prevail.

many innocent men and women fight for their lives everyday because a child makes such accusations.  laws, especially in arizona, are unconstitutional leaving the wrongfully accused person having to prove their innocence rather than the prosecutor proving guilt.  your story should make anyone concerned all a child needs to say is he touched me.....

And innocent people are sitting in prison because the prosecutors and judges believe "children"??  Saying that children don't lie. So who's going to investigate those cases?

False allegations destroy lives of not only the accused but their families, children and future.

Another stain on Andrew "Nifong" Thomas' record: The continued imprisonment of Courtney Bisbee. - Phoenix News - Feathered Bastardhttp://blogs.phoenixnewtimes.c...comment:Justice vs, Profiteering says:"I, as a citizen, cry out for sensible people in Arizona and to whomever else will hear, to write or call our lawmakers to stop the expansion and growth of our already over-crowded and large prison industrial complex, especially promoting thru lobbyists and funding, the profiteering GEO private prisons. This will be never ending, if allowed. It is immoral, un-Christian and inhumane to continue this warehousing of souls and creating more and more laws of entrappment to meet their quotas and feed their political gains. The heirarchy in place now, the whole Maricopa County Court System, seems to be the main cause of the ideology and corrupt methods taking place, which trickle down and permeate throughout it's whole organization: law enforcement, prosecutors, public and private defense attorneys, judges, and criminal charges and sentences. This is not helping our country in any way and whatever they think is working, clearly is not. In reality, they are destroying families and turning neighbor against neighbor through false fears and Godless ideas. The atrocities they perpetrate on their own citizens are none other than barbaric and evil in nature. They take away all hope of justice for the truly innocent person by denying him his legal rights in an over-powering, one-sided court system."Posted On: Monday, Jun. 2 2008 @ 8:34PM

Yes, there needs to be more articles written on those that are suffering from false allegations.  The public needs to see the hysteria that our country has created.  IF you are EVER accused of touching a child, your life is over whether you win or lose.  You will and better spend every last penny you have defending yourself because these types of cases are sure wins for the prosecution.  Why? They don't need any proof whatsoever.  They can even have exculpatory DNA and they STILL convict.  Literally, thousands of men and women are sitting in prison on these false charges.  It's the perfect way for an ex to get rid of you as well.  So yes, the public needs to see more stories like this so they too will know how often this happens.   www.justiceformike.net

An investigation into false reporting by these accusers needs to be done in Maricopa County Arizona where the MCAO was running out of control by the former County Attorney Andrew Thomas/Aubuchon/Alexander. Who's investigating these false allegation cases that have resulted in wrongful convictions and wrongful imprisonment?
