Prescott High School Students' Graduation Prank: Steal a Formerly Pink Car

Walker, Arizona's "Pink Car" is no longer pink -- it's covered in profanity.
Six Prescott High School students were so excited to graduate that they didn't bother with traditional graduation pranks like writing something in shaving cream on the front door of their school. Rather, they stole a car.

Yavapai County sheriff's deputies arrested the six soon-to-be grads after the "Pink Car," which is apparently the pride and joy of rural Walker, Arizona, turned up in the high school's parking lot covered in spray paint-written profanity.

The "Pink Car," a 1939 sedan Walker residents consider a "landmark," has sat on the corner of Pink Car Hill and Walker roads for decades. It was reported missing on Tuesday.

Four of the suspects are over the age of 18 and were cited for charges including theft and criminal damage.

Two suspects are minors and received juvenile contact referral notices on the same charges.

When contacted by police, the students told deputies they stole and defaced the car as a "graduation prank."

Walker residents don't find it too funny. In fact, they're pretty pissy about their damaged "landmark."

From the Daily Courier:

Betsy Bykerk, a longtime Walker resident, said Thursday morning that she and other Walker community members received an email this morning from the Walker Fire Protection Association saying that the Walker landmark that sat at the corner of Pink Car Hill Road and Walker Road had been found at the high school.

"This is not a prank! Not for this community," Bykerk said.

Several other students are suspected of having some involvement in the prank, but were not charged with any crimes.

We live in a serious society today. Say what you will, but the youth of today need to recognize that, or their future will be pretty grim.

My classmates put a car on the roof of the school, back in the day.  No one was dumb enough to get caught.

OMG, seriously? PAINT IT AGAIN and call it a day..geez.  We have a Doughboy, a national monument, at the military school i went to that got damaged by some dumb freshman during our prank night, and he got probation..and thats a federal offense! They didnt even make as big a deal as these idiots over some stupid rusted out car that likely doesnt even run. My lord, they act as if they just stole 200 mil in gold brick.

They didnt get caught. My understanding aome of them turned themselves in because of all this over a rusted p.o.s. that should be considered trash. And my understanding is they stated they wanted to return and repair. So I give them credit. Everyone needs to get over it. It was a rusted shell of a car sitting there already damaged with bullet holes, no interior, wheels, engine or anything. Landmark, maybe I will try putting a p.o.s. in my yard or on my street and see how long that will last!
