Arizona Tea Party Members Officially Reject Tea Party License Plates; New Plates are Counter to Principles

Members of the Arizona Tea Party have firmly rejected the idea of the state's new Tea Party license plates.

The plates symbolize big government and seem counter to Tea Party principles, a spokesman for a local Tea Party group told the Huffington Post today.

You'd think the tea-baggers would have figured this out before the state wasted time and money passing this thing to help them. Now it's actually causing division in the ranks.

"Arizona's tea partiers understand, recognize, and fully appreciate that the bill was well-intentioned, but its unintentional consequences has created unnecessary divisiveness among Arizona Tea Parties, and have subjected Arizona Tea Parties to unfounded scrutiny questioning our commitment and adherence to the foundational principles of the Tea Party Movement," said Annette McHugh, Arizona State Coordinator for Tea Party Patriots, in the Post article. "We want less government, not more."

Some Tea Partiers told the New York Times earlier this month they weren't happy with the law authorizing the plates.

As you can see from the link above, the Arizona Tea Party also put out a written statement today saying that programs like the one producing the specialty license plate will only serve to make the Tea Party dependent on government. The party wants to be self-reliant, it says.

Self-reliant -- as in relying on the oil-exec billionaires helping to fund the movement.

If you still think the "Don't Tread On Me" flag makes a cool-looking license plate but don't like the Tea Party, go for it.

You can explain to your friends -- correctly, it seems -- that the plate stands for everything the Tea Party opposes.

Yo! Yo! Yo! G! It is obvious that this is an attempt by the man to subvert the only real threat to his authority in the AZ. (like democrats are a threat to republican domination of state level politics). The only real threats to Russell Pierce and crew come from real small government Tea Party types. By "funding" them the political machine will slowly gain power over them. That will neutralize the threat of REAL SMALL GOVERNMENT.

Please adopt these plates.  Anything you guy scan do to further expose yourself as extremist nut-jobs is probably a good thing.  If you can't agree on the Gadsden flag, then perhaps you can agree on the Confederate flag.

Teabaggers are bogus.  They claim that all they're interested in is fiscal responsibility yet they hang on to social issues that don't have anything to do with being fiscally prurient.

Teabaggers?

Professional journalists don't call political movements (however fridge) a nickname eluding to the act of putting one's testicles on another's head.  Where did all the real journalists go?

The Tea Party in regards to the U.S. legislature does not exist.   It's a propaganda tool of distraction.  They do what the republican leadership tells them to do and if they don't then they go nowhere within the legislature.   They can't decide what they stand for or what to do within their own whatever they like to call themselves.   They come on this site and put every one down own including themselves.   They use pitiful sounding "power words" and we're supposed to bow to their knowledge.   The Tea Party has no more power than the ladies garden club.   Gov. Brewer seemed to be trying to give them some legitimacy but they can't decide from one city to another what to say about it.    And who the hell do you think you are telling us to shut up?    This is a public forum in order to speak and give our opinions and no one tells any one to shut up regardless of how much we might disagree and we often do disagree.   It's not quite the Nazi state as you might like it to be yet.

The Tea Party has no political agenda? Do you believe the readers of this publication are that stupid?

Here's a hint. Search this website and see how many articles you find that contain references to a group of persons known as the "Tea Party" who blame our economic problems on everyone but themselves. After you're done reading those articles, come back and explain why Teabaggers are not a political party.

The Tea Party just issued a new statement:  Their entirely political agenda is not political AT ALL.  Why don't you get that?  They're not a political party, they just campaign hardcore for entirely one-sided, decidedly political candidates.  Without campaigning at all, of course.  They're completely independent to everything except actual individual rights..

What this New Times Article reflects is a political party's inability (or failure) to communicate with its representatives. If this was such an issue, the party would have contacted its officials and advised them of them of the complications the legislation caused.

This is so funny as it shows the complete hypocrisy of the TP.  Why didn't the TP tell the TP legislature that it was a bad idea while the bill was winding through the legislature?

He's upset because I have new bumper stickers for vehicles choosing to use the license plate background that state: "Tea Parties are For Little Girls and Cookies."

Really? Like what? From what I have heard or read tea partiers are for fiscal responsibility, smaller gov't, and free market principles. At least that is what I hear from them. Of course to those like yourself, any one who disagrees with your views are racist. Maybe that's what you meant to say. Oh I know you didn't say "racist". You didn't have to. And I suppose that, by your definition, Democrats are bogus since they focus almost solely on social issues.

" fiscally prurient."Prudent is the word I think you wanted.  That or the word prurient doesn't mean what you think it means. :):

Teabagger is a term originating within the Tea Party. They didn't realize it also had a prurient meaning initially, and then they thought it would be funny to watch Pelosi forced to say the word before national TV audiences as, they hoped, she caved to their demands.

Didn't happen, and when the national media started mocking them, the self-titled tea baggers were left trying to repair a mess they created.  The solution they selected was lifted straight from the Republican playbook (which is fitting, as the Republicans control the TP): blame everyone one else, facts be damned.

When used in a political discussion, Tea Bagger has absolutely no sexual connotation. It's akin to the word "whip."  One use of whip is sexual, the other political.  Weak minds can not accept this distinction, but that is a problem for them and their fifth-grade teacher, not professional journalists.

Today, when used in political discussion, Tea-Bagger reminds us all how intellectually and emotionally challenged are the Tea Party faithful.  It reminds us that they caused a problem and then refused to own up to it, refused to take personal responsibility for their actions -- and those who respond negatively to the term remind us how that many in the Tea Party should never be trusted with sharp scissors, much less control of the US government.

Teabaggers aren't a political party because they don't meet the criteria for a political party under FEC and IRS rules. BONEHEAD. Tea Parties don't sit around blaming, they're too busy repairing the financial crap politicians have left in their wake. Yeah, I believe readers of this rag mag are that stupid. Stupid people read rag mags like this one and believe its credible journalism. Its a gossip rag..... you need more Everclear in your koolaid bottle.

Yup. This is why the license plates is now the official symbol of their hypocrisy. Anyone opposed to the Tea Pottiers can own it.

See, there's your problem. I don't have an official spokesperson. As far as I can tell, neither does the Tea Party. FYI, I have no association whatsoever with the Tea Party movement.

It's difficult dealing with an "idea" that has no official speaker, isn't it? That's why so many people immediately attempt to label the individuals as racists or anarchists. It's amazing the cognitive dissonance that's displayed by people, such as yourself, when having to actually debate an idea as opposed to a person you can label with your hatred.
