Senator Jon Kyl's Press Secretary Admits the "Not Intended to be Factual Statement" Line Makes No Sense

In case you missed it, Kyl completely BSd the amount of abortions federally funded Planned Parenthood performs, saying abortions were "well over 90 percent of what Planned Parenthood does."
Well, the real number was 3 percent, and Kyl's camp issued a statement saying the senator's remark "was not intended to be a factual statement but rather to illustrate that Planned Parenthood, an organization that receives millions of taxpayer dollars, does subsidize abortions."
So instead of Kyl admitting he was talking out of his ass, Ryan Patmintra -- Kyl's press secretary -- sent a statement to the Arizona Republic last night about the "factual statement" gaffe:
"Senator Kyl misspoke when he incorrectly cited a statistic on the Senate floor last week regarding Planned Parenthood," Patmintra says. "Rather than simply state that in response to a media inquiry, I responded that his comment was not intended to be a factual statement; a comment that, in retrospect, made no sense. Senator Kyl neither saw nor approved that response."
No, it didn't make sense, but it did give the rest of the country just one more reason to make Arizona "the meth lab of democracy."
