Morning Poll: Do You Care About Hockey Now That Phoenix Coyotes Are in Playoffs?

Umm...Go Coyotes?
For the second year in a row, the Phoenix Coyotes will be competing for Lord Stanley's Cup in the NHL playoffs, which means Phoenix's fair-weather puck fans probably will creep out of the woodwork to support the home team.

Phoenix isn't exactly a hockey city -- despite the annual migration of snowbirds from places where people actually attend hockey.

The Howlers had the second-worst attendance in the entire NHL this year -- which is an improvement from last season when the team's attendance was the worst in the league.

However, if history repeats itself, now that the Coyotes are in the playoffs, "fans" will start showing up in Glendale to rip off the old Winnipeg Jets' "white out." And if history also repeats itself, the few-weeks-a-year fanhood will be short-lived when the Coyotes get rocked by the Detroit Red Wings -- this time in the first round.

We want to know what you think: do you care about hockey now that the hometown team is in the playoffs?

Getting rocked? It went to seven games. Also, do a little digging and you'll find that Winnipeg actually stole the "White Out" concept from Calgary. Another lame attempt at putting Phoenix hockey fans down. You're turning into Cizmar, douche.

When the NHL told its fans to take a flying fuck for a year while they bickered internally over money, I turned my back on the league. Haven't given 'em a penny since. They can fold up into obscurity for all I care.

You listening, NFL?

"when the Coyotes get rocked by the Detroit Red Wings" really? The Coyotes played the Red Wings four times this season. The two times the Red Wings won were overtime wins, Phoenix beat the Red Wings once in regulation and once in overtime. Not sure what your definition of rocked is but those stats are far from rocked in my book.

"..."fans" will start showing up in Glendale to rip off the old Winnipeg Jets' "white out.""

Well, since the Coyotes ARE the "old Winnpeg Jets", I'm not really sure how the White Out is a 'rip off'... When other teams try and emulate it, it's a rip off, but usually you inherit traditions and rivals when a team moves to town, you DO understand how sports works, right?

LOL, Steve Doan, that's funny shit...

As for ruining the White Out, when I was still living in Phx, and going to games around '97, '98, the white out was pretty cool, nothing like going in and seing about 16,995 out of 17,000 people, All in white. Has it gotten bad since then? That's too bad. Of course, I think moving it out to Glendale was the dumbest move they could have made, I'm sure a TON of fans who were able to reach its centralized location in downtown have just stopped going.

It was response to Calgary flames C of Red. Winnipeg wore White at home and hence the White-Out was born. I don't care if the yotes use it, great on them for keeping the tradition alive. But all good things must come to an end, and Winnipeg will get their team back.

You saw game seven of the playoffs last year, right?

moving away from the center of town was a mistake, imho. If they were down town us folks on the east side would have an easier time to get there and I'd go to games.

as it is, it's way to far to even consider it.

Hey they didn't rip anything off, They just took a great hockey tradition from a great hockey nation and made it suck.Hockey in Glendale Az is know different than trying to run a NASCAR race in Winnipeg it just doesn't work. #24 Jimmy Gorden right ? Sorry just like the Yotes fan the other day saying he's such a die hard and couldn't wait to buy his brand new STEVE Doan jersey. Die hard ! C'mon man.

Yeah, I also saw game six in Detroit where the Wings were dominated in front of their home crowd to force that game 7... wan't much of a 'roll' then was it? I also saw how dirty the Wings played to get that game 7 win, doing every thing they could to draw penalties. Diving. Head snaps. Holmstrom pulling Accoin down on top of him. Really classy, sportsman like play. I'll bet that won't fly this year...
