Morning Poll: Do Arizona Democrats Owe Jan Brewer a Thank You?

Jan Brewer "has did" the right thing by vetoing several ridiculous bills. The Arizona Republic thinks she's earned herself some gratitude from Democrats.

Governor Jan Brewer went against the far-right-wing-nuts in her party last week and vetoed several bills -- including the humiliating "Birther Bill" -- the Republican majority in the Legislature desperately wanted. The Arizona Republic seems to think Democrats owe Jan a thank you.

In a piece written by the Republic's editorial board, the paper points out that following Brewer's veto of the bill -- and other bills loathed by Arizona's left -- "the minority party just couldn't play nice. They just could not say thanks."

The bills Brewer vetoed were stupid, "distracting" pieces of legislation, so thanking her for vetoing them -- as a reader commented yesterday -- would be like thanking someone for not kicking you in the balls.

Democratic Party Chairman Andrei Cherny seems to agree, and is offering no gratitude for Brewer's vetoes.

"Have we truly come to expect so little of our leaders that we now need to be grateful to them for not enshrining a fringe conspiracy theory into state law?" Cherny says in a statement. "I believe that public officials should clear a little bit higher bar before I need to rush out and buy them a thank you note."

Cherny's probably right, but as we pointed out yesterday, acknowledging sanity might inspire more of it -- something that's definitely needed in Arizona's state house.

Jan brewer is stupid and should be canned before more lawsuits are filled or citizens us their right to bear arms in case the government gets out of control.

I think Jan Brewer needs to be recalled. I don't think she is of sane mind. she has not acted in the interest of the many people of Arizona. We need someone who is interested in solving problems, such as jobs, how to handle our immagration problem in a humanitarian way, health care for our elderly, for those who don't have jobs and need help. To me she is self enabling, and self serving. She serves her self interests, such as signing a bill that lets people walk into a bar with a concealed weapon, why would you go into a bar with a concealed weapon. Then she signs a bill making a Colt 45 the Gun of Arizona. Two people on one of our highways get into a brawl draw guns and shoot it out. What are we becoming?Thank YouJudy Kulpins.

I know!! Why doesn't she give us all free healthcare, food stamps and have the state pay our bills so we can sit at home all day!?!? And obviously she has mental and physical control on everyone one in the stage of Arizona! It's her fault two loons got into a fight on the Highway... And yes! She should open our borders, give free housing and healthcare to anyone who wants to illegal cross the border, after all they are human so they automatically become a legal citizen of our state once they step foot in it... Boy I wonder why she doesnt do all that stuff? It's not like there are people busting their buts to become legal citizens, or people trying to get an education....

Nobody must thank anybody for a good deed done but an unwillingness to offer one to a person acting in good will is certainly an indication that someone has a ways to go.

She did her job this once and that was a good thing. The dems don't "owe" Jan Brewer anything, even a thank you.
