Dead Body Found in Burning Truck at Tonto National Forest

An unidentified dead body was found in this truck after fire officials extinguished a blaze that burned it to a crisp.
When authorities from the U.S. Forest Service and Arizona Department of Public Safety responded to a report of a fire off a Forest Service road in the Tonto National Forest last night, they thought a fire was all they were dealing with. Then, they found a dead body inside of a burning pickup truck.

According to the Gila County Sheriff's Office, deputies responded to the blaze about 9:30 p.m. as the truck was fully engulfed in flames and the fire was spreading into the forest.

The truck was found about a half-mile down a Forest Service road off Highway 87, just south of the Highway 188 turnoff, the GCSO says.

Once fire officials managed to put out the blaze, they found the body in the truck.

For now, it's unclear if the truck occupant was murdered, committed suicide, or was the victim of a fatal accident.

"The fire burned for quite a while -- we're still investigating," a GCSO spokeswoman tells New Times.

This isn't the first time a burning vehicle has led to the discovery of a dead body in Rim Country.

In February 2007, the body of Roger Watson was found stuffed in the trunk of a Subaru that had been burnt to a crisp. It was later determined that he was shot in the head and put in the trunk by Thomas Paul Georgatos, who is now in prison after pleading guilty to arson charges as part of a deal that allowed him to avoid a murder trial.

I'm jealous of James. I wish I had a band of merry crazies reading my every word. I wish James were a meth user maybe he would write and post more often.

"I wish James were a meth user maybe he would write and post more often."

It would certainly make him more representative of the average Zonie.

You cant trust those clean cut short haired guys like james king. he also likes to play with matches lighter fluid and gas. he was a well known fire bug back when he was a snot nosed brat kid growing up in Ames Iowa. he used to burn down poor farmers barns when the farmers daughter would not date him. he was known locally as the barn burning kid or BBK of Ames Iowa.

Mistalee,

I actually did not take offense to your comment and guessed to whom you had directed it.

As a frequent writer to these blogs, you, along with Chad Snow, Tommy Collins, and many others have demonstrated intelligence as compared to the typical four letter worded texts offered by the lower life-forms of this peculiar town, most notably "USgovfail".

Since I spoke positively of James, I will not sign this issue as I often do. JK will know who this is with this admission: I've never heard "Zonie" before, and would like to think I do not qualify as one. I am, however, a junkie, what is a more common sobriquet for those lovers of the injectable variety of drugs. Heroin, Cocaine, and the mother of them all,,, Methamphetamine.I play no favorites. If it will lend itself to solution and draw up in a syringe, then damn it, I'm shootin' it. I will also say of myself that I'll be 57 this year, have all my original colored hair and my teeth, and according to a diagnostics test in 2001, an IQ of 132.

The point of all this is that people do not always fit a general characterization. You can't always tell a person's true identity by casual observation. And so I was impressed with James King who doesn't seem to fit the type of person one might expect of someone like him to be.

And no offense taken from your post.

I know James King personally and only slightly. In his few years he seems to have a better developed perspicacity than I would have guessed for a man who started out life as he has; and he's managed to achieve more than his share of social stability. I hope he continues to observe the world with that same insight that has served him well thus far.

If his detractors slam-blog him for fun, I'm cool with that; if not, I guess they lack the equivalent character components of Mr. King.

I say this with affection and with no judgment whatsoever; Get clean, please. That shit will kill you, and before it does so, it will ruin your life and put hurt on those who love you. This is bigger than you. You are alive for a reason, and, like all of us, you have work to do, so get clean, live long, and keep telling the truth.

Good post. I myself have to wonder why some of these sleazy faggots in here continue bash and admonish J-King and his journo style. It's a shame. I wish they would go over to Faux10Noise site and post their lame blather there. Why they stick around to berate J-King is beyond me. Especially with the blogger who has some sort of mental issues with "clean cut short haired dudes". I persoannly don't give a fuck what that person's opine is of clean shaven men because I am one myself and very proud of it. I think J-King shouldn't care either. Like me, he too should have pride. With that said--keep up the good work Mr. King.

My comment was not intended to slam James King, and I apologize if I gave that impression.

I was responding to another commenter who wished Mr. King was a meth-head. I said that such would make him more representative of the average Zonie; that is a slam against Zonies, not Mr. King.

And "percipacity?" Really? Real zonies don't use words like that. Besides not being monosyllabic, it's prideful, probably some liberal affectation.
