Baseball "Moving Inexorably" Toward Mediocrity, 10-Team Playoffs, Per Bud Selig

Bud Selig: Businessman.
There's only one October in baseball, and it's followed by November. The month of December comes afterward.

No, we're not re-writing Rebecca Black's drizzling Friday. We're talking about the playoffs, and Major League Baseball's insistence that "October" is the month fans care about, even though the last two seasons have each hosted World Series games in November. It's a silly ad campaign and a sillier schedule that forces teams to play into the 11th month of the year -- but now Bud Selig wants to expand the playoffs to include 10 teams, dragging out the playoffs even more.

Are there even 10 good teams in all of baseball?

It used to be that the two best teams in baseball, the National League champions and their American League counterparts, faced each other in the World Series. Then, the two top teams in each league played for the right to go to the World Series. Now, four teams battle in two rounds for the chance to make it into the Fall Classic.

At what point is enough enough? American sports aren't exclusionary enough with their playoffs. It's almost as if all the professional sports teams are taking their cue from Little League, with the idea being that everyone deserves a touch, which is preposterous. Some teams aren't good enough to make the playoffs -- screw the extra revenue for the league that opening up the door to fifth-rate playoff squads provides, even if it's potentially good news for teams like the Arizona Diamondbacks.

The NFL lets too many teams into the playoffs. Ditto the NBA and the NHL. Baseball's almost there with eight total entrants, but the current schedule is defensible. Add two more teams to the mix, however, and the league will be pushing the quality of competition down to an almost scary level. Besides, scheduling is going to be hell.

There will be no November baseball this season, barring something catastrophic (like 9/11), but with Selig's desire to increase the number of teams in the playoffs, we might someday see December baseball -- or the teams will start in early March to avoid the later cold. The game is in danger of wearing out its fans and damaging the prestige of its championship, not that anyone in MLB management cares about anything beyond the bottom line.

When major league baseball started having playoffs prior to the World Series, it was generally acknowledged that it was all about extracting more money from the fan base.... more games, more money. This is in a probability an attempt to extract some more money.

I did a little research, and came up w/ some startling results. Even though they do not surprise me, they do kinda scare me. Before I go any further, I need to point out that I am okay with the fact, that, about 40% of these kids, are anchor kids. That's okay, they are only kids. With any luck, They will go on to become very hard working, productive, loving, (of family & country U.S.A.). adults. But the fact remains, that their parents are breaking our laws. You may say, well Kelly what makes you think the parents are " Illegal Immigrants" first I know this because 40% of these kids are very, very bi-lingual. Not because they took Spanish in school, either. But because they had no choice. If they wanted to speak with their parents, at home, they had to be bilingual. Of course English is the "first" language, Why because they are Americans and Americans speak English. Their parents are not Americans, they are Mexican, because they ONLY speak Spanish (& what ever English their American kids may have taught them.) Now if they we're by some small chance LEGAL immigrants they would have to know at least enough of the ENGLISH language to have taken the citizenship test and passed it. Because it only comes in ENGLISH!!! Now anyway here are my research findings: For the 2009-10 school year Lattie Cor Elem. K-8th school In the Avondale district. Had an average of 1365 students at any given time. Among those kids there were only, (the most at any time, through the course of the school year) 81 white kids, 1/2 of those had Spanish (or Mexican) Last names. Wait it gets better! There we're 75 black kids, 1/4 of those kids had Spanish (Mexican) last names. Oh! I'm not done yet!! All other non white, black, and Mexican kids, that remained I.E: (Islander, Asian, & here's the kicker NATIVE AMERICAN kids) Together only made up less than a % yes less than 1 % of the kids. Oh and guess what! 1/2 of those kids HAD MEXICAN LAST NAMES! Will somebody please, please explain this to me? SHE OUR U.S.A., is no longer a Nation & Melting Pot for all who want to love, and will never spit on, To come to LEGALLY, as my Irish & German Grand-parents did. She has become ( Arizona in particularly) a captive of Mexico! Yes a captive. it's time we take her back this is becoming a war. We need to nip it in the bud before it gets anymore out of hand than it already has . Thanks for listening. My name is KELLY FARMER & I was born and raised in PHOENIX ARIZONA since 1964. Pass it around, email me back whatever you want to do, It's all good. I would love to hear your thoughts on this subject! I dont care, from what nationality background you are. Anyone that's a CITIZEN by birth or LEGAL IMMIGRATION is fine with me no body that is here ILLEGALLY please. because frankly your opinion does not matter. Oh! silly me, you could not read it anyway, cause it's only written in ENGLISH!

What does your anti-immigrant post have to do with a further extension of the baseball season, or are you just posting it everywhere?
