Arizona State University police and a task force from the U.S. Marshals Service arrested a wanted California parolee  for allegedly robbing an ASU student at gunpoint last week.

Police say Shelven Jason Gasaway Jr., 26, held an ASU student at gunpoint in the University's Rural Road parking structure in Tempe on March 3, making off with the student's money clip and cell phone.

After broadcasting surveillance footage of the robbery on TV, police say viewers called in saying they'd seen the man in their Mesa apartment complex.

Police arrested Gasaway in the apartment complex early Wednesday, and a warrant served on the apartment exposed the gun used in the robbery, as well as the property stolen from the ASU student.

The new armed robbery charge isn't Gasaway's only problem either.

According to the California Department of Corrections, Gasaway was on parole for assault with a deadly weapon when he managed to cut off his GPS monitor in November, and had been missing ever since.

Police say the warrant for Gasaway's arrest from California also included a sex offense.
