Morning Poll: Should Scott Bundgaard's Ex-Gal-Pal Be Charged With Assault?

Police say Senator Scott Bundgaard should be charged with assault. Charges against his ex-girlfriend, however, have been dropped -- for now.

The Phoenix Police Department announced that following an investigation, it's been determined that state Senator Scott Bundgaard should be charged with assault for the February 25, freeway fracas with his now-ex-girlfriend Aubry Ballard.

Ballard, on the other hand, was taken into custody the night of the incident, but released with the assault charge against her dropped.

Both Bundgaard and Ballard exchanged blows during the brouhaha -- Bundgaard even had the shiner to prove it. Ballard suffered bruises on her chest and some cuts from when the senator allegedly threw her to the ground.

But should Bundgaard be the only one charged? Decking someone in the face can't go unpunished -- even if he's a guy, and she's a woman -- or can it?

He has a pretty clear history of being a bully and physically abusive to women. That history pretty much says she is not the aggressor. With the size advantage, she might have a chance of getting out of shooting him in self defense. She should not be charged based on what I have read in the reports and the press. The only mitigating information I heard is that Russell Pearce, President of the Arizona Senate, says that Bundgaard is the victim here. Like I said NOTHING points to Ms. Ballard as culpable in this event.

I think Ms. Ballard was merely defending herself against a man, as she had that right. The guy is clealy a jerk and a son of a bitch. Yet, she shouldn't be off the hook clean. She should be warned not to do it again(with someone else of course). This will be base in her "history".
