The body of a Marine reported missing a week ago was recovered in a canal in Yuma.

Yuma County sheriff's officials confirm that the body of Corporal Joshua Barron, a Marine from Standish, Maine, was found dead in a canal last night.

Barron, 22, who is stationed at the Marine Corps Air Station in Yuma where he works as an engineer and mechanic, was last seen by his roommate on March 15.

As of yesterday, base officials don't suspect foul play. However, that may change over the course of the investigation.

Last month, another Marine was reported missing from the Yuma base.

Sergeant Jonathan Kyle was reported missing on February 14. Law enforcement agencies spent a lot of resources in their search for Ferguson -- search and rescue crews conducted air and ground searches in northwest Yuma close to the Colorado River. Border agents with canines aided in the search.

Kyle was missing for about two weeks before it was determined he'd gone AWOL. He then turned himself in.

Barron leaves behind a wife, and a 1-year-old step son.

Check back for updates.

That really sucks that someone who puts his ass on the line for the defense of this country is found dead in a canal. I hope he gets a full military burial at Arlington. It takes a lot to be able to put on that uniform and call yourself a United States Marine. And when you wear that uniform, you wear it with pride.

Rest in Peace, Cpl. Barron. Thank you for serving the good people of the United States of America. Semper Fidelis

he was feeling lonely and missed his family and went for a walk by the canal on his day off. he bent over to look into or at the canal he then slipped into the cold rushing water below and he could not get out of the canal or he didn't know how to swim and he drowned. it happens all the time in Arizona canals. most of the time its Mexicans who are really stupid. this time it was a white guy. either way this case is closed. if he was a christian he is now in heaven with Jesus so be glad for him. the rest of us are all still down here dealing with all the shit life throws at us till we die. so in a way we are the ones who are fucked, not him.

You don't even know the details and you're assuming he committed suicide. I highly doubt you're what you say you are anyway. Either way, you're a dick.

And I appreciate his service if that's indeed true. But I think most servicemen would have a bit more respect for a fellow serviceman who just lost his life, especially knowing he's left behind a wife and child and before the circumstances are even revealed. Hence the"dick" remark.

If you're betting I don't work behind the ropes in a casino, you would be correct. Congratulations?

If you read the story, this young man served all of us, even you.

I wanted to join the U.S Air Force when I was 18 and my dad (the drunk that he is) wouldn't let me. I went on to serve in the U.S Army. And I want to take a look at serving in the USN.

You are thanked for your service.
