Dan Quayle Defends "Worst President in History's" Golf Game

Categories: Sports?
Dan Quayle's totally cool with Barack Obama playing golf.
Barack Obama may be the Ben Quayle-certified "worst president in history," but if you ask the freshman congressman's old man, the president spending time on the golf course as the entire world slips into chaos is A-OK.

Obama caught a little heat from the press this week for playing golf in the midst of the crisis in Japan, the unrest in the Middle East, and the piss-poor economy here at home. According to CNN, last weekend's outing was the 61st time the president hit the links since taking office.

As the blogosphere and cable news outlets erupted with criticism of the president's decision to play golf last weekend, Obama found an unlikely defender of his golf game: former Vice President Dan Quayle, an accomplished golfer in his own right.

Quayle was on the Fox Business Network yesterday and was asked his opinion on the president playing golf as the world crumbled around him.

"I'm glad he's out playing golf. I happen to be a golfer. I think presidents deserve down time. And believe me, he is in constant communication with what's going on," the elder Quayle told the network. "I mean, what do you want him to do, stay in his house and be on the phone with the ambassador to Japan all the time?"

The elder Quayle is probably right, despite his son famously (or infamously, depending on how you feel about the country's current commander of "hope and change") calling Obama the "worst president in history."

But the president has to know that when Japan is on the verge of a nuclear meltdown, Gaddafi is killing his own people, and we're paying nearly four bucks for a gallon of gas, his spending the weekend trying to hit a ball into a hole is going to draw a little heat.

He sticks his nose in everybody's business only when it benefits the corporations that put him in office and tell him what and when to do what they want him to do. The unrest in the world has been instigated by the US, Isreal, England, China and Russia. It's a big game to them and the people die and suffer at their whim. Take your places and bark like the dogs you are.

Reality check, please. I think if anyone has an expectation that it's the responsibility of the United States to pull Japan, a very technologically advanced country, out of this tragedy built by nature, they are wrong. I didn't vote for Obama, and honestly don't really care for him, but there is no need for any President to worry 24/7 about things like this. The Japanese are very capable and independent and yes, we can assist, but we don't have the responsibility in 2011 that we might have in the 60s.

Let him play golf and perhaps even clear his head a bit to think of things that might help even further....

Obama should be in Libya fighting Gaddafi and Michelle and Malia should don radiation suits and go put out that damn meltdown.

Oh know, the president took a crap when he should have been watching a nuke plant boil water, oh know!!!

Hey, why aren't all these pundits griping about going to war with the Kingdom of Bahrain - they're killing their protestors too - WITH SAUDI ARABIA's HELP. Oh, that's right, that's OUR military client state.

Frankly, I've had it with these people and their liberal ideas of wanting to use our Military (which bys designed in our Constitution is to protect THIS COUNTRY and not the people of other countries). I say if they want to create a no-fly zone, get together, hire a bunch of pilots, buy they planes and do yourselves. Stop asking the U.S. Taxpaying citizens to do your job for you - yes Oil Companies - I'm talking to you!
