Congressman Trent Franks Wants to Impeach Barack Obama Over Gay Marriage

• Good luck with that, Congressman Franks... The only way the president can be impeached is if he has borken federal laws or violated the Constitution. That happened to Andrew Johnson way back during Reconstruction, and he was spared conviction by a single vote. I seriously suspect that this (much like everything else Congress does) is a serious waste of time and taxpayer money....

• Franks won't tell his supporters that the president will continue enforcing the law, and he won't tell them that federal courts have stated that the federal government overstepped its bounds by enacting DOMA because marriage is a states' rights issue. It makes no sense for the federal government to keep spending tax dollars defending an issue that is under the control of state governments. Franks is either for states' rights, or he isn't, he needs to make up his mind, and stop screaming about the federal government overstepping its boundaries.
