Congressman Trent Franks to Announce "Future Plans" About Potential Senate Run Saturday

Congressman Trent Franks

God, apparently, has made up his mind:

Congressman Trent Franks, who said earlier this month he would leave the decision on whether he'd run for Senate up to the man upstairs, will reportedly run for the Senate seat being vacated by Senator Jon Kyl -- an announcement he plans to make following a Saturday fundraiser with Maricopa County Sheriff Joe Arpaio and Minnesota Congresswoman and potential presidential candidate Michele Bachmann.

Following a $250 morning fundraiser with Arpaio and Bachmann Saturday, Franks plans to "hold an event to outline his future plans."

Franks will have to out-Conservatize Congressman Jeff Flake -- the only declared candidate for the seat -- in what likely will be a McCain/Hayworth-esque GOP primary.

Flake -- a one-time advocate of amnesty for illegal immigrants and a guest worker program -- seems to be anticipating the showdown with a GOPer more Conservative than him and has flip-flopped his stance on immigration, now saying his only focus is securing the border.

"In the past, I have supported a broad approach to immigration reform -- increased border security coupled with a temporary worker program. I no longer do," Flake said earlier this month.

"I've been down that road, and it is a dead end. The political realities in Washington are such that a comprehensive solution is not possible, or even desirable given the current leadership. Border security must be addressed before other reforms are tackled."

Franks is only one of several far-right-wingers eying the seat. Others include former TV pitchman J.D. Hayworth, and even former Alaska Governor Sarah Palin, who also is rumored to be considering a run here now that it seems her presidential plans are a bit of a stretch.

"Future plans?" As opposed to what other sort of plans? Maybe we should all be relieved he's not planning for the past; That never works out.

Admin assistant on intercom, "Excuse me, Congressman, God is calling on Line 3".

Franks, "Take a message or send him to voice mail. I'm an important person and have already received his opinion. Now I must go forward and try to save this state from myself".

"No, Congressman, this is NOT a joke anymore. This guy says he is GOD".

"Tell Russell I'm in the toilet and don't have time for this"...

We're truly disgusted with these hypocrites who do NOTHING got the people except "use" them. Franks, Kyle, McCain are too entrenched in the "system". It's time for them to pass the reins to the next generation before they are too old too serve. Arizona's future looks bleak as these "leaders" have taken the state backwards to a bygone era. This former Republican has had enough!

Hey, if immigrants would just come to America legally and help pay taxes to pay for the public services they use then there would not be such a big issue with "illegal" immigration. Illegal immigration is not to be confused with LEGAL immigration. America welcomes immigrants who follows our laws. If you can't follow the laws then don't come here. Illegal is not a race or a skin color, it is a crime.

Most people who are here (and working) without proper immigration status ARE PAYING TAXES through payroll deductions for SS and other withholdings. These withholdings are collected by the government BUT ARE NOT PAID OUT to the people who paid them in BECAUSE they are not here legally and cannot file tax returns to claim those withholding back (minus the actual tax/fee).

This actually is a net benefit to the citizens of this country. The fact that you use it as an issue to complain about ilelgal immigration proves that you are just the kind of nut-bag that tea partiers like to suck!

The fact is that "America" does not welcome immigrants in enough numbers to provide the labor America needs to operate effectively. We need to come up with comprehensive immigration reform so that the economic necessity which compels companies to import labor in an illegal manner or to encourage migrant workers to enter this country without property immigration status will not be an agent in forming human behavior in that regards.

Hey, I disagree with you there. 2/3rds of the people here in the U.S. without proper immigration status are here because they overstayed a legally issued work visa or are here working on becoming a legal resident or citizen. Only 1/3 of the people here without proper documentation are here because they jumped the border in a manner that would trigger the CIVIL fines which punish border jumpers.

In other words, the problem you complain about (i.e., people here "illegally") would still be a problem EVEN IF WE SECURED THE BORDER 100%.

You're a fool to be led by the nose by bigots and haters
