Carpenters Union Takes to Streets in Tempe, But Bully-like Union Leaders Refuse to Say Why

Union leaders weren't in the mood to answer questions about their demonstration on Thursday.
About 50 demonstrators from the Carpenters Union chanted and marched on the corner of University Drive and Mill Avenue in Tempe today -- but don't ask why.

A man with an orange safety vest who claimed to be one of the leaders of today's demonstration says he doesn't talk to the media.

But we just want to find out what's going, why you're demonstrating, we tell him.

Another dude in an Indiana Jones hat, sporting a white goatee, also gave us the brush-off. Then a guy wearing mirrored shades put himself between us and whomever we tried to ask what was going on, sticking his picket sign in front of our phone camera lens.

"Why don't you just go away -- we don't need you over here?" fumes Indiana Jones. Something's clearly up his butt, and since we just met him, we're not sure what.

We remind him that it's a public street corner.

"It is, but why don't you just go away, go about your business," he says. "Stay away from my people. They don't have anything to say to you."

Damn, these guys suck!

The Carpenters union took the streets of Tempe today -- just don't ask them any questions.
"Aren't you out here for attention?" we ask, incredulous at the attitude of these bullies.

"No," says one of the smart-asses.

So, there you have it. Labor unions at their finest.

That'll teach us to ask questions. We feel lucky not to have gotten our asses kicked.

Most likely they didn't want to be slandered by the New Times, you guys do have a habit of doing that.  Especially to groups that are protesting the use of illegal immigrants in construction work when there are thousands of qualified American workers unemployed.

Photos at bottom. Today (Friday 13th, May 2011. 11am) on 1st ST and Washington I was with a fellow student from the Art Institute of Phoenix going about our business when we saw this protest and thought...This would be a good shot for our photojournalism class..being that we are photography majors at AIP. So without talking to anyone I being shooting...then out of no where this brain dead tool bag got in my face and asked us who we were with. I replied "nobody" just working on some homework. Then he began to get all huffy puffy and put his big boy pants on and got all tough with me while his buddies circled us and put video cameras on us. I told him to get out of my face and that this is public property I have the right to be here...then he replied with the typical shit head comment that most Americans say "i have to right to be here also" soooo...you have the right to be three inches away from my face slurring very childish fighting words at me while your buddies video tape it. So...I laughed at him and walked away. I'm not on either side. Just wanted to share my story.

Unions. Ah yes, they protect the worker from the dreaded management. Like in Wisconsin, the workers will lose their jobs or take massive pay cuts. The unions made sure they retained their power but their members got shit. Like in Detroit, they insisted the car workers went on strike. They lost their jobs and the new hires got half the pay from when the old workers were on the line. Unions will lead you down the path of destruction because they work hand in hand with big business and government. Other wise they wouldn't be allowed to exist. Read your history from the Russian revolution, the rise of the Soviet state and Stalinism. The same thing is happening here. The idea of unions is good but the practice is deceitful and evil. Distraction and destruction of the middle class. I know, you want to discuss all the good they've done in the past to make this country what it is today. What is it today? A hollow shell filled with people with hollow minds barking like dogs for that which they know not. The gentleman who commented before on the people in the picket line...he knows what it's about. Carpenters have no reason to go on strike. Hell, they can't even get work. Those people aren't carpenters, they're hired by the goons who work for the man.

These guys suck they pulled their game on me at a couple of job sites I was running. I played nice, didn't show that I was getting upset by their ass-hole behavior, so they step up their harassment. screaming in the ear of the Project owner Reps. calling my guys a bunch of fucking scabs, blocking all entrances to the job site. I called the Phoenix police, so a little shit bag with a badge shows up with his hip, I watch him laugh and shoot the shit with Indiana Jones. and proceeds to tell me that I have no right to ask them to get out of the way of the concrete trucks. These shit heads on another date started to follow me around town in their tinted out Impalas. they waited for me at the office and it was on, I counted three cars following me all over town. driving like maniac's running red lights and all kinds of bullshit. I ran into them on another date at a job site pulling the same game. I asked the scum bag in the mirrored glasses why he thinks its ok to follow people around town, at first he denied any such action, and later admitted to only trying to find out where the other job I might be going is. I asked him, "what if I am going home ", response, "oh-well". If you ever get a chance to see these hacks in line up check out the personnel they bring along to march. Nothing but a bunch of tired old Mexican women and fat bastards, that couldn't get a tool belt around their unskilled waists. Fuck the union they suck this is a right to work state.

Not only are they a bunch of bullies. They're a bunch of fuck-nuts without a cause. So they're out there demostrating.............FOR WHAT???!!!!

Just a bunch of asswipes, can't say why? So all we can do is speak for them--they want "attention" and nothing more. I say its Disorderly Conduct. A public nuisance.
