Pinal County Sheriff's Deputy Saves Two Lives in Less Than an Hour

Pinal County Sheriff's Deputy Robert Taylor saved two lives in less than an hour last week.
Pinal County Sheriff Paul Babeu has an actual hero on his hands.

Last week, Pinal County Sheriff's Deputy Robert Taylor saved two people's lives before most of us sat down for lunch.

About 11:30 a.m. last Thursday, the PCSO got a call about a baby who was choking. In the chaos, the baby's parents gave the 9-1-1 dispatcher the wrong address, but it was close enough, and Taylor, who was in the area, found the baby's mother, who was outside her house waiting to flag down the responding officer.

Taylor ran inside and found the baby, who wasn't breathing. He immediately administered CPR and revived the baby, who was taken to an area hospital and is expected to make a full recovery.

About 45 minutes later, at 12:12 p.m. Taylor was conducting a welfare check on an 83-year-old man who was living in a vehicle outside of a trailer.

Taylor got to the vehicle but couldn't find the elderly man.

Taylor kept looking, and about a quarter-mile away found a 15-foot-deep well, where he heard the voice of the man as he called for help while lying at the bottom of the well.

Taylor found a ladder and went into the well after the "barely-conscious" man, who the PCSO says was suffering from frostbite and was having trouble breathing.

Taylor picked up the man and carried him 15 feet up the ladder to safety. He was treated by medics and, like the baby Taylor saved less than an hour earlier, is expected to make a full recovery.

Babeu's lovin' it. From his a statement provided by his office:

"Deputy Taylor undoubtedly saved two lives. The actions of Deputy Taylor show the professional and caring nature of the men and women of the Pinal County Sheriff's Office. I am very proud of the immediate life saving actions taken by Deputy Taylor."
