Gabrielle Giffords Able to Speak -- and She Wants Toast
|She speaks! Congresswoman Gabrielle Giffords reportedly asked for toast with her breakfast this morning.|
CBS' The Early Show, and Politico have both confirmed that Giffords is speaking again as she continues to make a miraculous recovery after being shot "through the brain" during last month's shooting rampage in Tucson.
Giffords' staffer confirm that the congresswoman is undergoing daily speech therapy as part of her recovery, and that the rehab is going well.
Giffords is currently being treated at the TIRR Medical Hermann in Houston where she began therapy late last month.
Since being shot during the January 8, tragedy, Giffords has moved all of her limbs, opened her eyes, smiled, and with the help of doctors, Giffords has been able to stand on her own two feet.
Throughout her recovery, doctors remained hopeful she would be able to speak -- and now, miraculously, she has.
"The doctors say she is recovering at lightning speed considering her injury but they aren't kidding when they say this is a marathon process," Giffords' husband, Mark Kelly, posted on his Facebook wall yesterday.
Kelly also posted several photos of Giffords' hospital room in Houston, which you can see by clicking here.
