Arizona is home to many, many crappy drivers, and a 14-year-old kid police say was driving a stolen car drunk through Phoenix Wednesday night is only the latest.

Arizona Department of Public Safety spokesman Bart Graves tells New Times a highway patrolman spotted a white Ford Focus "driving erratically" northbound on Interstate 17, when he attempted to pull the car over.

The kid decided not to yield to police and continued driving, even after running a red light at North 19th and West Dunlap avenues and smashing into another car in the intersection.

Graves says the kid eventually pulled the car over. Of course, he didn't want to go to jail.

The 14-year-old, described by Graves as "a big boy," began fighting with police, until three officers from the Phoenix Police Department responded at the scene and helped subdue the boy.

Graves says he didn't know the height and weight of the 14-year-old, only that he was "heavyset," and a police officer on the scene said "he looked 10 years older than his age."

The kid was transferred to a juvenile corrections facility, but Graves says he faces multiple felony charges, including possessing a stolen vehicle, DUI, hit and run, aggravated assault, and marijuana possession.

Officers were researching the boy's criminal history.
