Arpaio Worries that ABC News Stunt at Tucson Restaurant Hurts Image of Arizona and Cops -- As if His Anti-Immigrant Sweeps Don't

Our blog post yesterday about the ABC News "investigation" in Tucson brought up some of the same concerns that Maricopa County Sheriff Joe Arpaio mentioned in a letter today to the national news outlet.

Even if the teeth of SB 1070 hadn't been pulled by a federal judge, it's unlikely that law officers in Arizona would have conducted themselves like the actor playing a bigoted security guard.

But it's hypocrtical for Arpaio to complain that this episode hurts the image of Arizona and police. This is the sheriff who instructs his deputies to prowl the streets of Hispanic neighborhoods like Guadalupe and pull people over for the slightest infraction. The goal is to find illegal immigrants, so Arpaio has his deputies check the immigration status of drivers who are stopped for merely honking their horn or having a cracked windshield.

As we've reported, his deputies -- before they had their immigration powers revoked -- would occasionally end up responsible for the deportation of people who hadn't done a thing wrong. For instance, in 2008, Arpaio's office arrested two men who had been merely sitting in the back of trucks, doing nothing illegal. The men were deported after being taken to jail.

Arpaio says in his letter that if he had proof that a deputy did anything like the guard in the ABC News show, he'd have the deputy "severely disciplined" and probably fired.

On the other hand, stopping a work truck for a minor violation, then arresting a person in the back seat who'd done nothing wrong and sitting back as that man is deported -- that's fine with Arpaio.

Arpaio is correct. You can't just ask for their papers because you think they are here illegally. You must first see if they have a crack in their windshield or that they jaywalk or ride a bike without a headlight at night. Things that I would not get pulled over for because I am white.

When is that "Flaccid" Old "Fool" gonna have a hearty heart attack already? Thus I don't wish death upon our top KKKorrupt KKKonstable. But I am, however, aghast at the fact that he's still out there, terrorizing the communities and the American people. For we Americans shall hath the Freedom to move about.

I have no problem with illegal aliens being deported when caught. My complaint with Arpaio is his stunning ineffectiveness at anything law-enforcement related. The man has been a disaster for the taxpayers of this county and couldn't figure out how to fight crime if crime was a paper bag and he was a blow torch.

Local law enforcement should be focused on major crimes and criminals. That will mean Mexican gangs, drug smugglers, kidnappers, rapists, human smugglers, all of the violent and high-dollar criminals. But all Nickle Bag has ever cared about is targeting the low hanging fruit and delivering his dog and pony shows for the voters.

No one should enter this country illegally. Everyone who does deserves punishment. But like any other problem, priorities must be set, resources applied where they do the most good.

If Arpaio understood that one simple fact he'd stand a chance of being a halfway decent manager of a major law enforcement agency.

Instead of a taxpayer gouging, prisoner killing, dog killing, house burning, political enemies List keeping incompetent jackass.

The wacks defend their immigration policies by saying we don't get to pick the laws we obey or enforce. From the other side of their mouths, they want to form a panel of legislators to determine which new federal laws, regulations and executive orders Arizona will obey and enforce. Breathtaking. Absolutely breathtaking.

I saw the segment last night, and it wasn't much different than the other situations that they set up. It was well done.

It was clear the guy was an off duty "mall cop", and the only reason that Joke would get upset is if he thought MCSO was a bunch of mall cops themselves. Oh, wait - that IS MCSO!. Mall cops and the Prune posse with guns..

This is theater. Soon it will be much worse than it is now, for everyone. We have no voice and voting is a joke. What good does voting do when politicians do whatever they want or are told to do. Do they do what we want them to do? If not, what can we do about it? Send a letter to your congressman? How about, just shut our mouths and keep our jobs? Want to protest? I thought you wanted to keep your job? Like jail? Then do what you are told and shut your mouth. Your life is not your own. We are all slaves in a life of illusion. I love my president and whatever he says is true and for our common good. We must sacrifice together for a better world. The community is greater than the individual. Etc, etc, etc.

Arpaio, aka The Flaccid Fool of MCSO, is the one person who has caused the greatest amount of embarrassment for professional law enforcement in Arizona. Coming in a very close second is his younger step-brother, Paul Babeu, aka Little Joe Paul. Between those two and they media prompted theatrics, aided by Brewer, pearce, kavanaugh, trents and the rest of the state dipwicks, there is pretty much nothing that anyone else could do to embarrass law enforcement in this state. When I talk to my peers in Colorado they all laugh about the MCSO dork, that dude who shot himself to make it look like he was attacked and shot his way out of it, and the jackwagon sheriff who believed him.

The Flaccid Fool only commented on this to get his name out there once again. He apparently has 'inside' information that Babeu is going to whitewash the Munnell charges so the FF can come out of hiding once again.

In my opinion, be it less than humble, the MCSO sheriff is mentally ill.
