WikiLeaks founder Julian Assange
See our UPDATED story here.

Where are the First Amendment's establishment warriors as government-spooked businesses try to shut down Wikileaks?

Hackers with computers, not hacks with press passes, have been the first line of resistance.

More to come.

OK, this deserves coverage-

Time Magazine conducted a readers poll this year for 2010 Person of the Year. Assange won by a landslide. But that apparently didn't jibe with the political leanings of their editors, who instead named Mark Zuckerberg, Facebook founder, as "Person of the Year.

This is crap. Assange got TWENTY TIMES as many votes as Zuckerberg.

Michael Moore: Why I Posted Bail for Julian Assange | World | AlterNet

http://www.alternet.org/world/...

"I ask the world to stand up for my son...against these massive forces...it is him today...it could be your sons and daughters tomorrow" ....Mrs. Assange in Australia.

Michael Moore has stepped forward to help with bail....

another way of putting it is:

"you can not TONE DOWN your protest against injustice".

INJUSTICE is LOUD and SCREAMING - whether it is a "small" injustice or a large one...as the Anonymous folks said: "we are sick and tired of seeing small and large injustices everywhere".

and ONE of its AIMS is to TONE DOWN challenges to itself - and then Marginlise and then to MUZZLE them -- and then to BURY them....like CLOCKWORK method of SUPPRESSION. ..

and then they "move on" (as barack obama would say) for MORE injustices.

all because people were told "tone down" ....it's ALWAYS one of the FIRST and most COMMON DEVICES of suppression, in fact.

we see it in our workplaces -- for fear of our losing our jobs...as ONE daily example of what you are asking Assange to do: "tone down" -- EVEN IF HE has created something around which people and through which people CAN SHOUT against injustices.

in fact -- as Assange said:

"I would have wished that this is NOT about me. but in an organization like this -- it was bound to have a great deal of attacks -- and SOMEONE had to become the lightning rod. I am the founder...so I am its FACE....but it really should be about the SECRETS...and the REAL heroic persons -- like Bradley Manning...if he is the one that leaked -- he should be celebrated, not imprisoned".

Because the general public is not on your side this time (if you share a "vision" with Wikileaks). I think you underestimate the patriotic responsibility that most journalists feel at the end of the day.

The press isn't what it once was. Today we'd never see the Pentagon Papers published, unless people like Wikileaks forced the hands of the media. Too many in the press see their jobs essentially as cheerleaders for the government.

How absurd can you get? Arguing between Wikileaks and Facebook founders. It's as important as voting for The American Idol. This whole Wikileaks garbage is contrived to give the PTB a reason for more contrivance and murky soap operas. As if they need a reason anyway. The easiest way to keep slaves under control is to give them the illusion that they are free. It's useless to speak of freedom these days. You've never been free and you never will be free. Those who think they are aware are only talking in their sleep. This "story" is about distraction and is just another layer on top of layers. Think of why you would create situations like this Wikileaks soap opera? What end result can you imagine? Go beyond the surface and think. Few are those awake enough to do so. Many are those who have no concept of being asleep or don't want to be awake or don't care about anything except being comfortable. You'll do anything to stay comfortable even if you're the last one alive.

As I recall a lot of the public had similar thoughts concerning the Pentagon Papers. Let's face it, most of the public doesn't think too deeply about these things. We proceed apace toward idiocracy.

I don't think very many Americans subscribe to anarchist ideals. Even if they have so few ideals that they can be counted on one hand. I've not met a single person outraged by anyone (or anything) other than Wikileaks' behavior here.
