New Times' Paul Rubin Discusses Louie Puroll Investigation on Fox 10

In case you missed it, New Times reporter Paul Rubin was on Fox 10 last night, where he discussed the investigation into Pinal County Sheriff's Deputy Louie Puroll -- and a death threat Puroll says was made against the reporter's life.

Puroll was placed on administrative leave yesterday while the Sheriff's Office investigates comments he made to Rubin that were published in an article in last week's New Times.

Every evening news broadcast in town covered the the Puroll story involving Rubin, and most led with it. But Fox did the most in-depth report.

i'm I the only one who thinks Babeu is in on this with Puroll?

Well said, Tommy. I would add that this type of publicity, where Babeu looks like he has something suspicious going on in his department, certainly does not fit into his personal publicity campaign.
In a sudden revelation last night while watching and listening to the talk between Kari Lake and Mr. Rubin I realized what has been nagging at me since the last article by Mr. Rubin. Then Babeu was shown making his remarks about how he had no idea the Puroll was out there keeping this whole thing alive. Babeu thought it was dead and buried. Um, not so. I simply didn't see the forest, for the trees. Please recall that during the 'investigation' into the 'shooting incident' that Puroll had an attorney and that attorney gave him explicit direction on what to say, what to answer and to keep his mouth shut about everything else. Also, the attorney gave specific instruction to the 'investigators' as to what they could ask. I always thought it odd that PCSO would go along with that since the investigation was internal, at that point, and not criminal. Thus, the attorney had no legal standing to restrict questions by the investigators. But Babeu apparently agreed to the very limited 'investigation'. Whitewash, actually, in my professional opinion. That said, it's obvious from the actions of the attorney, the statement by Babeu, and the latest action and statements by Puroll that Puroll really is quite a story teller. It's also very clear that Puroll has continued to be allowed to work without direct supervision, patrolling the desert on his own agenda, meeting with reporters without authorization, taking citizens into a known area of potential harm without authorization, etc. As I've said in other blog posts, I've worked with other cops who remind me very much of Louie Puroll. They were very dangerous people and shouldn't have been wearing the badge of authority. Nor should Louie Puroll. It's far past time for Babeu to retire Puroll. He has already outlived his political usefulness to Babeu and is now a liability that can no longer be hidden in the desert.
