You don't like America, leave, there are plenty of brave hard working people who respect the Constitution waiting to take your place.

Those who have not been convicted in a court of law in this country are presumed innocent.

• Mikey, I don't know where you get your stats, but you are wrong! The truth is that about 95% of them have been convicted of a crime. The jail is not filled with school teachers who have jay walked or failed to pay a parking ticket. It is filled with people who have long rap sheets. Most first time criminals are released without bond. The ones in jail are the ones that our judges feel are a threat to our society. I doubt that there are many people serving time for failing to pay a speeding fine. Most people in jail failing to pay are parents for child support. I guess you would just release the 70% waiting for trial and hope for the best. After all they are innocent.

Do you understand that "not convicted" means innocent in this country? As for the people serving time on a fine, you think that if you can't pay a fine for something like speeding and they sentence you to serve time, you should be subjected to potential rapes, beatings, spoiled food, etc? Seriously? Maybe you don't understand this, but as soon as you get convicted of a serious crime, you end up in PRISON. Prison is NOT the same as County Jail. This is just supposed to be temporary housing, period. This means that truly innocent people are 'doing the time', to paraphrase you. There's nothing "awesome" about Joe. he doesn't care about the law, he cares about getting elected, and getting his narcissistic ass on TV, that's it. If he cared about the law, he'd be serving outstanding felony warrants, rather than trying to start up reality TV shows. Stop and think through life before you jump off the cliff with the bunch of nativist lemmings who are lining up for an opportunity to perform fellatio on Joe. Open your eyes, you'll be amazed at what you see.

• I looked at my daily "Arpaio" search to see what is happening in this continuing soap opera. I about fell over when the title of this blog linked Simon Cowell with Arpaio. I had a fleeting vision of Arpaio in a tight t-shirt. So much for sleeping tonight.

His job and institution should be non-profit. All proceeds from the making of this should be given back to the state for housing costs for these inmates.
