Magic Johnson wants to kill Derek Anderson -- and we can't blame him.
If you think you want Arizona Cardinals quarterback Derek Anderson to disappear and never come back following his atrocious performance on Monday night (we sure as hell do), you probably should hear what Magic Johnson has to say about him -- he "would have killed him."
Johnson was on Jimmy Kimmel Live last night and was asked about the Cards getting blown out by the San Francisco 49ers on Monday Night Football this week. More specifically, Johnson was asked about Anderson's giggle-fest with lineman Deuce Lutui while down 18 points in the fourth quarter.
"I would have beat his butt or killed him," Johnson told Kimmel on the show.
Check out the video below.
Sports Illustrated's Peter King has already predicted that Anderson will not be on the team next year and says Coach Ken Whisenhunt should be "playing for 2011," when Anderson will be gone and rookie B and C squaders, Max Hall and John Skelton, will still be with the team.
King's take on the debacle that is Derek Anderson:
This has nothing to do with his postgame fit at logical questions from Arizona Republic
beat man Kent Somers about why he was laughing on the sidelines in the
fourth quarter of an embarrassing loss. It has to do with his play,
which has been terrible. The Cardinals now are officially playing for
2011, which Anderson will have nothing to do with. Max Hall and John
Skelton, the rookie quarterbacks backing up Anderson, will probably be
on the team in 2011. They need to see all the time in the last 20
quarters of the season so Ken Whisenhunt can see which one will enter
next season competing for the starting job with whoever Whisenhunt and
GM Rod Graves import at the position.
But Whisenhunt seems to still be playing for 2010, and, as we found out yesterday, Anderson's still his guy.
Get ready for a long 20 quarters, Cards fans.

Yes, I would rather Anderson show that he was pissed off by throwing chairs and punching things instead of sitting around chatting with fatty. He wasn't even bothered enough by the game to look at the photos of the defence from the prior series. He has no heart, no talent, and and is a detriment to the team. While I don't agree that he needs to be killed, I do feel that he needs to be released immediately.
I agree that this has been carried to far! Can't a guy laugh on the sideline? At least he isn't violent! Duece was trying to cheer him up a bit before he went back out to get sacked again! This whole team is bad' they are depressed and not trying. Why not give them more support? You cannot blame it all on DA.!Magic's opinion means nothing!! He really is a has been!
I wonder what would happen if while on national television we said someone should be killed? If deputy dog's rancher friend had made his threat on national television then I guess it would have just been funny, huh? Celebritys are so cool and smart too. We should idolize people like Magic. Funny how he has survived HIV for so long. What's it been, something like 15 years? I'm probably taking this too seriously though.
This was funny for like a day. Now it's like kicking a dead horse. Yes, Anderson sucks hard. But, it's not like he's the only guy to ever laugh on the sidelines during a blowout. Can we move past this now?
He should be killed? Poor Magic need to calm down a bit. And, furthermore, who cares what Magic thinks? He's a "has been". Look, it's just a game. Are people not allowed to laugh on the sidelines while talking to a team mate anymore? Would you rather he be throwing chairs around on the sidelines and punching something? I wouldn't. People need to get a grip.
DA's contract....2 years, $7.25M....$3.25M guaranteed...Incentives, which is probably what he was laughing about...like, hey Duece...guess I'm not gonna get that max of $18.25M, huh?
I'd probably be laughing too.
i agree completely with king the cardinals need to call it quits for competing and focus on these young qb's. Personally i say you run a 2 QB set and allow one the 1st half and the other the 2nd half. build experience and in the off season i feel they need to get a third QB that can play wildcat it will allow them to be comepetive next season while whisenhunt molds his future. almost like a cam newton or tim tebow.
HE HIT THE NAIL RIGHT ON THE HEAD. ANDERSON SHOULD BE FIRED TODAY, NOT MADE STARTING QB. WHISIHUNT BETTER WATCH OUT, HE TIME AS COACH COULD END WITH THE POOR DECISIONS HE'S MADE.
