Officers From Phoenix P.D.'s Scandal-Plagued South Mountain Precinct to Dish Out Turkeys to Needy Families
| www.examiner.com |
That's probably why we got not one, but two emails this morning alerting us that a few cops would be handing out turkeys to needy families. It's also probably why we received a late-night email (the same day four officers from the South Mountain Precinct were indicted for theft) about a crack house the department planned to destroy 12 hours later.
That said, not every cop at the precinct is a crack-pipe-planting time thief -- the majority, we would say, are good cops who have had their reputations tarnished by the precinct to which they're assigned and a few bad apples (25 to be precise). And we're glad to help spread the word when they do something positive.
If you're near the Fry's grocery store near 7th Street and Baseline Road around 6 p.m. today, stop in and join officers from the South Mountain Precinct, as well as Phoenix City Councilmen Michael Johnson and Michael Nowakowski, as they pick up food they plan to deliver to nine needy families. Maybe offer some encouraging words, too. Being a cop aint easy -- and it's even harder when some of your colleagues are crooks.
