Joe Arpaio Apparently Finds Nazi Comparisons More Offensive Than Death Threat From a Mexican Hit Squad

joefatass.jpg
America's self-proclaimed "toughest sheriff," Joe Arpaio.
Maricopa County Sheriff Joe Arpaio isn't up for re-election for two, long years, but that isn't stopping him from trying to drum up cash to pay his legal bills for his campaign right now -- and he's turning to out-of-state donors to do it.

This morning, we received a letter sent to an Ohio man. The letter is from Arpaio and in it he says he "desperately need[s] YOUR help" to raise money for his campaign -- which is funny considering his campaign had enough cash on hand to run attack ads against outgoing Maricopa County Attorney Rick Romley during the GOP primary. We all know how that turned out.

In the letter, Arpaio really tugs at the anti-immigration heartstrings, opening with "You have probably heard by now that President Barack Obama's Justice Department is suing me because I won't conform to their turn-a-blind-eye strategy when it comes to arresting and detaining illegal immigrants."

Arpaio runs down a list of those who despise him, and apparently finds being compared to a Nazi more offensive than the $1 million bounty he claims the Mexican drug cartels have placed on his head.

On the first page of the three-page letter, one sentence instantly stands out, which is often the case when it's in bold print and underlined. That sentence is as follows: "One of the local newspapers printed a political cartoon of me and our Governor wearing Nazi uniforms and performing the Nazi salute!"

All we can say to that is guilty as charged. Check it out below.

This ad appeared in an April edition of New Times. Arpaio, apparently, finds it more offensive than death threats.

The very next sentence -- in regular type and not underlined -- Arpaio says "the Mexican drug cartel has placed a ONE MILLION DOLLAR bounty on my head."

Arpaio rambles on about the ongoing conspiracy perpetrated by "left-wing extremists" to end his reign of terror in Maricopa County and allow illegal immigrants to run amok.

"They know that if they can remove me from office the fight [against illegal immigration] is over because none of the local agencies will take up the fight. And I don't have the personal resources to defend myself from these vicious attacks," Arpaio writes.

If by "vicious attacks" the sheriff means "warranted lawsuits," he might be on to something.

It's not until the letter's P.S. that Arpaio gets to what he's really after: a legal defense fund.

He concludes with "P.S. Please don't set this letter aside. It is imperative that I have the necessary resources to defend myself and my office from these outrageous attacks and politically-charged investigations. I must have a strong re-election war-chest to face my opponents. Your support is urgently needed and appreciated!"

In other words, Joe Arpaio is using the immigration debate to conjure fear and outrage amongst out-of-state donors, who, in reality, will likely be unknowingly paying his legal bills -- not fighting illegal immigration, as the sheriff leads them to believe.

Oh, it doesn't even make good toilet paper, does it?

"The Mexican drug cartel". Which one?It would not be Christian to wish Arpayaso dead, but would it be okay to wish him a soon departure for his eternal reward?

Why doesn't this latest round of Joe bullshit surprise me?

If my memory serves me correctly, and it does, the FBI, the US Attorney's Office, the DOJ, and the Arizona AG's Office is currently investigating the Sick Old Man and his cronies.

TommyC:Yes the Sick Old Man is 1 of 15 county sheriffs in NaziBama. He and his little buddy, Pinal County Shurf Paul Babeu, enjoy being in the spotlight all the time. Both truly are disgusting.

In life, Joe Arpaio is just a sick, stupid old man who's facing a lot of jail time when he's indicted and perp-walked.

I hope that Joe gets a good roomie like Bubba who will keep him all warm at night, I wonder if Joe's teeth are removable?, that certainly would be a bonus for Bubba.

Arpaio IS a Nazi.

So is Jan "I forgot how to use my brain" Brewer.

They both need to be gone ASAP.

The only problemo with Brewer that day was she was out of white port. Give her a break.

Fixed news 10 has this bit on thier web site today . ironic as it is , JoKKKe and Candy andy both used the media to go after others . then JoKKKe wants his depo's out of the media . i say no , we have the right to know .

A lawyer for Maricopa County Sheriff Joe Arpaio is asking a federal judge to forbid the public release of videos of depositions by nine sheriff's officials in a lawsuit that accuses deputies of racially profiling Hispanics in immigration patrols.

Sheriff's attorney Thomas Liddy requests that the videos not be released until after the case has concluded and argues that the lawsuit should be tried in court and not in the media.

Arpaio's (as well as Pearce, who also sent out a plea for funds for a nebulous purpose) are experienced con artists and spice up their pitches with dishonesty and fear and hate mongering. I think Arpaio's letter serves a dual-purpose in his scheming mind. He's surely expecting to be indicted, likely some time soon, for all of his patently unlawful actions and countless documented abuses of law enforcement power. With his reference to "left-wing extremists" and claim of "politically charged investigations," he's doing his darndest to prepare and con the reader (his mass mailing list of people) into believing that when those indictments do come down for them to understand that it's all political, that he serves the people, that the Obama administration is after him, and blah, blah, blah.

In other words, a prelude for believers to keep believing that he's the "good guy" and his political adversaries are the "bad guys."

The cartel bounty is most certainly a real and valid contract. It was delivered by an anonymous text message. As I understand it the hit men are lined up for this job as far as the eye can see, like taxis at JFK airport. What is holding them up is that the text message was character limited and the invoicing information got cut off. I am not in that business, but I don't think I would want that job either if I did not know where to mail my invoice upon completion.

Imagine that: A technology shortcoming has save our Sheriff's life.

If he is chasing a legal defense fund to defend the himself as Sheriff and MCSO in general, that should be a County Expense. Would the County BoS have to approve accepting the money? For the 1070 suit, the Legislature and Governor made accepting contributions a no-brainer. Would the BoS extend the same 'courtesy' to Joe? On the other hand, could he be creating a legal defense fund for himself, Mr. Michelin, the guy that opened up a law office 'I will take any case but criminal, but try me,' Lisa the Aubuchon, and a couple others? If so, then at the very least they must be expecting criminal charges or at least substantial personal jeapordy.

The tactic of couching it as a fight against illegal immigration is pretty lame.

"If you give me money for my legal bills, it will keep me out of jail and able to fight against illegal immigration." Therefore your donation to my legal defense fund is actually a donation to fight illegal immigration.

I don't recall reading a suit that targets Joe for his illegal immigration stance. I think it is because he refused to turn over documents duly requested. Am I right?

Ummmm. hey, help me out here. Isn't this guy arpaio JUST one of fifteen COUNTY sheriffs in Arizona?

Why would anyone outside of Maricopa County care about this buffoon and his needs?

He is SO MUCH bigger in his imagination that he is in life...

hahaha...this guy....if the Cartels wanted him dead....he'd be long, long gone. And, they wouldn't pay $1M for it to be done either.

It may be they saw how bad ass your deputies are on Real Policewomen of Maricopa County...they tase any more grannies lately?

Hey Joe...if the cartels are so bad...why aren't you going after them? Isn't that what you rolled out your .50cal that the taxpayers paid for?

Oh, that's right....the dishwashers, factory workers and library janitors pose a much greater threat to us...right?

WTF

Hey Joe you forgot to mention the FBI investigation on your letter !???
