Max Hall to Start as Quarterback for Arizona Cardinals Against New Orleans Saints Sunday

Rookie QB Max Hall.
Can Arizona Cardinals quarterback Max Hall be the solution to the team's quarterback quandary? Probably not, looks like he's gonna have the chance.

The Arizona Republic is reporting that "sources" close to the team say Hall will make the start Sunday against the New Orleans Saints.

Derek Anderson, it appears, will be ridin' the pine after failing to produce much more than frustration in the first four games of the season. Miraculously, the team's record -- despite Anderson's awfulness -- is 2-2.

With Anderson apparently out, let's get to know the guy at whom Cards' fans probably will be screaming through their TVs this Sunday.

Hall's a local boy -- he went to Mesa View High School, where he led the football team to an undefeated season and the state championship, in 2002.

He was named offensive player of the year and won the MVP -- as well as other honors.

Hall went to Brigham Young University, where after his sophomore year, he was named first-team All-Mountain West Conference after throwing for 3,848 yards, 26 touchdowns, and only 12 interceptions.

He's got a fiery side, too.

Following a game against the Utah Utes, Hall was asked about his opponent.

"I don't like Utah. In fact, I hate them. I hate everything about them. I hate their program, I hate their fans, I hate everything," Hall was quoted as saying. When asked about the comments later, Hall reaffirmed his disgust, saying "I think the whole university, their fans and their organization, is classless."

That was college.

Hall wasn't picked in the 2010 NFL draft but was signed as a free agent to backup Anderson, who, at the time, was backing up Matt Leinart.

Hall got the call last Sunday and took over for Anderson, following Anderson's fourth pitiful start, which began with two interceptions.

Hall took over. He didn't do much better than Anderson -- he went 8 for 14 with no touchdowns or interceptions -- but he was still better.

We're pullin' for him. Could Max Hall be the next great quarterback to rise from obscurity? Again, probably not, but it'd be awesome if he was.

James, it's Mesa Mountain View High School. I know you guys don't do a whole lot of HS coverage, but Hall went to Mountain View.
