According to multiple reports, the announcement that Gibson got the job could come as early as today.
"I'm going to be held accountable for philosophies, the hitting approach, the pitching approach and I want to feel comfortable with who those individuals are."
Towers then added of Gibson, "If Kirk ends up being the guy, support
is going to be a big thing for him. ... I think we need potentially more
experience on the coaching staff."
The Diamondbacks just ended the most miserable season in recent memory. The team went 65-97 earning it a last-place finish in the National League West.
Gibson's coaching career began in 2003, when he was named the bench coach of the
Detroit Tigers. In 2007, he was named the D-Backs' bench coach and once D-Backs; manager A.J. Hinch got the boot earlier this season, Gibson filled is as interim manager.
The players seem to be diggin' Kirk.
