Jan Brewer's Wild Ride: We Got the Police Report. Get All the Tipsy Details Right Here

jandebate.jpg
I swear, occifer, I only had two drinks.
Just in time for happy hour, we got our hands on a copy of the Department of Public Safety report filed after Governor Jan Brewer rear-ended a mini-van in 1988. Jan admits having two scotches before the accident but says she wasn't impaired -- despite failing four different field-sobriety tests.

Not to mention, Brewer changed her story three times when asked how the accident went down. Check it out here.

The best part of the whole report: the arresting officer describes Brewer as "thick tongued." In Brewer's defense, anyone who's seen her speak knows Jan always sounds like she might be border-line drunk -- so her thick tongue isn't exactly a smoking gun when trying to prove she's wasted.

However, the officer also described the then-state-senator as having bloodshot, watery eyes, and dilated pupils that reacted poorly to light stimulation.

As for the four field-sobriety tests Brewer failed, they seem to be a more telling sign that Brewer was hammered than was her legendary thick tongue.

According to the report, when asked to stand on one leg, Brewer was "not able to perform the test as instructed." Instead, Brewer was "swaying back and forth from side to side and front to back heavily."

Brewer claimed she had an ankle injury at the time, but that shouldn't have been a problem unless she was dopey enough to stand on that ankle when told to stand on one leg -- which we're not puttin' past her.

Brewer was then asked to tilt her head back, close her eyes, and touch her finger to her nose. No luck there, either. Brewer didn't even follow instructions -- initially, she failed to close her eyes or tilt her head back, and when she did, her body swayed front to back and side to side as she tried to touch her finger to her nose. Her eyes would flutter when she tried to touch her nose, the report claims.

In the third test, Brewer failed the Rhomberg Modified counting test when she was unable to count from 1001 to 1030.

In Brewer's fourth field-sobriety F-, the now-governor was unable to maintain her balance when asked to walk in a straight line. She had to stop three times to steady herself and didn't walk heal-to-toe as instructed. According to the report, she stepped off the line five times in her attempt to walk straight.

Brewer's swaying throughout the tests is described as "heavy,"

Brewer's apparently a magician, too. After she was handcuffed, the officer told her he would remove the cuffs as he drove the governor to the station to undergo a breathalyzer test. As he reached for his keys, Jan slipped out of the cuffs and handed them to the officer. Ta-da!

The breathalyzer never happened, though, and charges were never filed because being a sitting state senator gave Brewer immunity from charges -- even though the arresting officer repeatedly says throughout the report that Brewer smelled like a booze.

Sadly, because no breathalyzer was performed, we'll never know how drunk Jan actually was. But, after reading the police report, it seems she really knows how to party.

See for yourself here.

She should be in one of the prisons she is getting money from for her support of SB1070.

I actually don't care about this one. Human frailties have no bearing on office. She's a numb-skull, and only a fool would vote for her...but not because she had a couple of drinks and drove. Perhaps she may even use her experience to reign in our out-of-control DUI laws...no, that would cost her sheep....I mean votes.

Why does this matter? This was 22 years ago. Back then, DUI was considered a "rite of passage". It's only within the last 10 years that it has more correctly been marketed as a crime.

I suppose your next trick is to somehow tie Jan Brewer to the Holocaust. LOL!

@Retusafvet yer an idiot. 10 years ago DUI was still a serious crime. 22 years ago it was still a serious crime you jackass. Maybe 50 years ago you could say that, but not now.

Funny how the GOP extremists hated Jan (not conservative enough) Brewer just a few short months ago. Then she signed Pierce's stupid bill and then the GUN bill, and now these same nutjobs will defend her against literally anything. The nutjobs *I* used to know would have been happy to fry a politician with a hidden DUI.C'mon extremist whacko nutjobs, be your old selves again!

Back in 1988 how many of your loved ones screwed up got a DUI or at that DWI and got off? That explains why 20,000 DUI Warrants still go unserved. She's been spending too many special sessions to craft out how they were going to round up hispanics, latinos, mexican american born alike "arrest then detain" for a forced unlawful Federal Attestation of their citizenship at SWATPOINT aka PEARCE GUNPOINT at the workplace and a Lowes near you.

I didn't live in Arizona prior to 2004 so I don't have a clue what Mrs. Brewer was like at that point. I will assume that when she was a candidate for state senate she actually had to engage in public speaking and extemporaneous expression of opinion and ideals.

Today, it seems she is not capable of forming and expressing cogent thoughts when speaking to the public. Prepared text is one thing, much like a TV news anchor reading the news. Reporting from the field is yet another, much like a candidate answering questions at a debate or candidate forum.

Folks have been concerned about Mrs. Brewer's physical health, based on band aids and such.

I am MORE CONCERNED ABOUT HER MENTAL HEALTH and her ability to actually form her own thoughts as governor, without some flack telling her what to say and do.

Honestly, from an amateur point of view I see significant signs of dementia with Mrs. Brewer.

We really should be concerned about her ability to do her job. So far, she has given us plenty of room for concern.

I don't think Mrs. Brewer is a good investment for our state.

@Tommy Collins it might be because her brain is pickled from alcohol abuse?

Unless she's often wasted, which is a real possibility. You think Arpaio only drinks at night?

Get Real says "This is 2010 and Jan Brewer happens to represent the far majority of us Arizonans"

Unfortunately, you're right: the majority of Arizonans these days are ignorant, uneducated, substance abusing, Mexican hating Sandbillies. She's the perfect governor for our state.

Legislators should not get legislative immunity. A couple of years ago there was a legislator from Bullhead City (or Havasu, but in that area) who was caught driving drunk. She tried to get immunity and she didn't. She later did a press conf asking her constituents and God for forgiveness. This was around the time that Rush had his press conf. asking God for forgiveness for popping pain-killers.

Brewer should not be cut any slack. She should be treated like she treats others, even refuses to release an innocent, aging and dying man from prison. Executes a death row inmate days prior to an election. After 20 years, why was this execution timed for yesterday? Go back decades for child molesters. Well, now it's her turn, as taxpayers and citizens we demand nothing less.

The Associates generally despise Governor Brewer for her failure to take a stand against OBAMA and HOLDER in USA v ARIZONA. They want her to mention Barry Soetoro's aka OBAMA's STOLEN CONNECTICUT SOCIAL SECURITY NUMBER 042-68-4425. One wrote,

" "In the third test, Brewer failed the Rhomberg Modified counting test when she was unable to count from 1001 to 1030."

King, JAN BREWER can't count from 1001 to 1030 when she's SOBER, so ths test is inconclusive.

Quit beating around the bush, Kingman, she's a FUCKING DRUNK, an ALCOHOLIC. As we said easrlier, her drinking caused Fetal Alcohol Syndrome in her criminally insame son. Very sad."

Rob, it seems the understanding is that illegal is only illegal when it applies to immigration issues. DUI, and similar violations of law, committed by certain factions of our Arizona society are not REALLY illegal... simply an annoyance when cops try to apply the laws they think should apply equally...

One thing is for certain, come Tuesday Jan Brewer will win by about 11%. Like it or not that's a fact, and like it or not it's because of her stance on illegal Mexicans that hop the cactus. The Democrat party made a terrible miscalculation as to how to react to Brewer and company. Not only will Jan Brewer win, but Republicans will sweep all the house seats in AZ, putting a nail in the political coffin on Nancy Pelosi. It's Democrats that did that.

BS
BS

Again politicians and law enforcement held to a different standard than the common citizens who pay their proper taxes. Throw the book at us but let police drive them home... Bullshit.

It's just like the illegal strip mall poker rooms the Governor supports throughout Maricopa County yet she condemns the legal, job providing, background checking, regulated casino/resort project. One of the illegal strip mall poker rooms Governor Brewer is aware of in Glendale (near 43rd Ave. & Peoria) has a criminal fraud committing, manipulative known con artist who has stole literally hundreds of thousands of dollars from many good people. She supports this fraud committing, manipulative con artist person in an illegal strip mall poker room in her home City of Glendale yet no legal to the casino project which would be built on the tribes own land.

Yes to illegal gambling/poker rooms, one with an owner/operator, manager, card dealer who has been involved in criminal fraud, manipulated hundreds of thousands from mother, fathers and subsequently their children and a known con artist, in Glendale but no to legal, job providing casino/resort??? That is not only hypocritical but discriminatory as well!!!

The moral of the story is.... You can get away with allowing illegal activity or commit crimes the rest of us would be locked up for as well as fined but if you are a politician or law enforcement officer you are considered above the law and need not enforce state or local laws.
