Morning Poll: Why is Joe Arpaio Really Going to New Hampshire?

President Arpaio? Fat chance.
America's self-proclaimed "toughest sheriff," Joe Arpaio, is heading to New Hampshire this weekend, which has caused the national media to speculate that the aging (and aging) law dog plans to run for president.

That theory, as we pointed out yesterday, is definitely probably bullshit.

Check out what CNN senior political editor Mark Preston had to say on the matter after the jump.

Chad Willems, Arpaio's political adviser, said that the sheriff is "not going back to test the waters," but did acknowledge, "People just don't go to New Hampshire if they are not interested in these things."

Willems went on to highlight Arpaio's ability to raise money, the fact that he is often sought out by the national media, and "is well known throughout the country."

"He enjoys being sheriff, but he has been asked by and urged by so many people, thousands of people call and write or e-mail him each week saying, 'Run for president, run for president,' " Willems said.

He's also urged by "so many people, thousands of people" to eat a bullet, but that doesn't mean he's actually gonna do it.

More likely, Arpaio, and his handlers, are playing yet another game with the naive mainstream media just to get the sheriff's name in the headlines -- and it's working.

However, while highly unlikely, we can't ignore Arpaio's bloated ego. In other words, the guy might actually think he could be president.

We want to know what you think: what's driving Arpaio's decision to go to New Hampshire -- his craving for headlines or his massive ego?

Vote -- and see the results of yesterday's poll -- below.

Yesterday's poll question: Are you buyin' Scott Rasmussen's latest poll on gov's race?

- 33.85 percent say yes.

- 66.15 percent say no.

Here is your morning poll:

The Flaccid Fool has his media types plant rumors about him running for governor, then supposedly decides not to if he can't appoint his successor. Sure.

Now, the old goat is having his media types planting rumors that he might be exploring a run for the White House. Sure.

He has much more important things to deal with. Right here, in Maricopa County, Arizona. As an elected office holder I would expect him to concentrate on MCSO and not worry about what other folks across the country are up to.

The Flaccid Fool just keeps on pumping his imagination.

In reality, he's about to be taken down, and out.

Egads, Gads! Where have you been? You need a passport to travel between the US and Canada. It's the same requirement to travel between the US and Mexico. If you're talking about covert boarder crossings, good luck trying to get the US to build a fence along the Canadian boarder!

He's coming because we AGREE WITH HIM.

He's not running for anything.

And yes a LOT OF TERRORISTS come over via Canada.

NO OTHER COUNTRY allows their borders to be open, not even Mexico.

New Hampshire is not the best place for an authoritarian d-bag to visit. They don't mess around with their freedoms up there. Says so right on their license plates.

You should move to France. Then you can find out what authoritarian really means.

They need it there because they have French people to deal with.

Publicity - at 78, he would be 80 yrs old if elected. Older than Reagan. And we see how well that went.
