Morning Poll: Is Medical Marijuana a "Danger to Our Communities?"

The Arizona Cardinals got political yesterday and gave $10,000 to an organization devoted to defeating Prop 203.

Prop 203 will be on the November ballot and would allow chronically ill or severe-pain patients to buy marijuana from state-licensed clinics with a doctor's approval.

The group to which the Cards gave the money is called Keep AZ Drug Free. Cardinals President Michael Bidwill serves on the group's steering committee.

On the group's Web site, it claims 203 would be a "danger to our communities" -- and that's about it. There is little-to-no explanation as to what about the concept of prescribing sick people marijuana is so dangerous.

We called the group to get further explanation, but nobody called us back.

It seems that doctors prescribe far more dangerous -- and more addicting -- drugs than marijuana, but we want to know what you think: is medical marijuana a "danger to our community?"

Vote -- and see the results of yesterday's poll -- below.

Yesterday's poll question: Is Spending $39 Million to Improve Internet Access a Waste of Money?

- 56.25 percent say yes.

- 43.75 percent say no.

Here is your morning poll:

In 1998 I was flown over to Alb, NM, to have my back operated on by University of NM/VA/Kirkland AF base( all 3 share the medical facility there) because of a broken back I recieved while serving my country in the US Navy. They rebuilt my spine with titanium steel bolts and Titanium steel rods. Since 1998 my postal carrier has been my drug dealer, every 6 months I see my VA primary care giver he prescribes my Meds, takesmy blood and urine for testing and the postal carrier delivers my pain meds to me( everything the last few years from narcotics such as Vicatin, darbocett, tylonal 3 and 4 Muscle relaxers such as methocarbomal ect... along with antidepressants such as doxepin to help me sleep for the last 12 years... About 6 months ago i was visiting a family member out of this area, and he suggested i try some pot to see how that helped...well to make an already long story shorter, it was a wonderful change...but it was an illegal change...so since that few days of wonderful relief i went back to my VA prescribed regiment of man made drugs becuase the one drug that would be the best solution for me is illegal...well in july of this year the VA changed its stance on how the va will deal with vets in states that have MM laws voted on by the people... I hope this passes it is by far the best solution for me...I know i am destroying my body with the pain pills i am prescribed...I am between a rock and a hard place i have pain 24-7 it never goes away so i drop man made narcotics when i cant cope with the pain any longer...please arizona allow me to choose a medication that will allow me to grow old with my liver and kidneys still working the way god intended...if this does not pass i will have to look into moving to another state..i was born here at good sam in 1960..my family and friends live here..but i live by the law i always have....please vote yes on prop 203

If Jan Brewer were to legalize Methamphetamine in this state overflowing with "tweekers", well, hell, the old Ho would be able to balance the State's budget in a day or two. Give it a shot, Janny girl, you couldn't fuck it up any worse than your stupid debate performance against Terry Goddard.

anyone donating money to appose a medical marijuana law in your state favors continued alcohol crime levels, and keeping inner city kids in drug war zones.

Let me see now, isn't one of the most abused recreational drugs on the planet a major sponsor of the NFL. Yes, I'm pretty sure beer is a major sponsor and it kills more people every year than heroin, cocaine, and all the other recreational drugs combined. Marijuana on the other hand has never killed anyone, and has been used as a medication since the beginning of recorded history. That includes in the USA until the the 1930's when it was made illegal primarily as way to imprison people of color. Oh and lets not forget DuPont who wanted to get rid of the competition too nylon.

Of course Medical Cannabis is no danger to our community. What imagined danger is there? The other 14 states and Washington DC, have not fallen into anarchy since they passed Medical MJ laws. Why would anybody think we would? Millions of Americans are abusing prescription medication prescribed by a doctor. Yet I don't see one person anywhere in this country calling for a outright ban on Oxycotin. The facts are clear, Aspirin kills more people every year then Cannabis has in thousands of years. So tell me why can minors buy Aspirin? Being overweight kills more people every year than cannabis, yet people can eat what ever they want. This is a "free country" isn't it? Stop the abuse to the sick and ill. VOTE YES ON PROP 203 VOTE YES ON PATIENTS RIGHTS!!!

Bidwill is a idiot who has had any thing he has handed to him. Him and his dad are complete morons...where are they when the catholic priests are being jailed for sex crimes against minors...bidwill loses on this one. Goes to show when it is given to you ($) it usually doesn't take long to loose it. peace

That "fear" talk about 420 is all bunch of hype from idiots like Sheriff Joke. Medical 420 is probably 5 times safer than OxyContin, Fentanyl, Perococet, Demrol ecetera. With these dangerous prescription drugs, folks tend to go beserk without them as opposed to MaryJane. I'm not a drug user myself, its just a fact.
