Who needs an ambulance after being shot in the chest when your truck is sitting in the parking lot?

​We would think the standard procedure after taking a gunshot to the chest is to hitting the deck and waiting for an ambulance. Maybe we're cowards.

A man shot in the chest at a Phoenix apartment early this morning apparently had different plans. He tried to drive himself to the hospital.

The victim, who has not yet been identified, and two other men were visiting a female friend at a Phoenix apartment complex near 59th Avenue and west McDowell Road this morning.


The men reportedly got into an argument over money, prompting one to pull out a gun and shoot the victim in the chest.

Rather than panic, the wounded man ran out of the apartment, got into his truck, and tried to drive himself to the hospital.

He didn't get far -- police, responding to reports of the shooting, found him as he was pulling out of the apartment complex.

The victim was taken to a local hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

The suspected gunman was found and taken into custody. The third man left the scene in a beige Monte Carlo. He's still on the loose.
