Green Party Sues to Boot 11 "Sham" Candidates From Ballot; GOP Recruited Them to Draw Off Dem Votes, Lawsuit Alleges

The Arizona Green Party wants a federal judge to block the names of 11 candidates from appearing on the November 2 ballot, saying the candidates are "shams" who don't represent the party.

The lawsuit and request for immediate hearing comes a few days after the state Democratic Party accused former state lawmaker Steve May and current State Representative Jim Weiers -- both GOPers, naturally -- of recruiting bogus candidates who could draw off Democrat votes during the upcoming election.

Judging by recent media reports on the matter, this sounds serious -- and blatantly corrupt. Election officials are just days away from printing up ballots.

Although state law apparently allows Green Party candidates to qualify for the ballot with as few as one write-in vote, non-Green-Partiers shouldn't be allowed to treat the democratic process like a game of Grand Theft Auto.

But if the judge lets the bogus candidates' names stand, maybe Democrats ought to be allowed to find a few patsies to represent the Tea Party -- or some other group that might siphon off Republican votes -- on the ballot.

And how about those Mill Rats? Finally hitting the big time, with a mention in the New York Times. They might not be the same Mill Rats we wrote about 15 years ago, but the concept is still the same. Who knew some of these homeless free-spirits would be so willing to associate with shady right-wingers?

Wow they jumped on Quayle for thedirty.com but not on May and amateurshooterz.com or his notorious twink Parties along with the powerful, rich, political gay elite, it was well known most his guest were not of age. Now he claims to be advocating for the homeless and disadvantaged? Read his post this guy sounds like a creep feeding on homeless youth. I appreciate his supporters belief that they are supporting a Gay Republican, but unfortunately he is more then that. I cannot accept that this person advocates anything but his wallet what they have created on Mill is a sad represenation to his economic vision they created a mall and now it is empty and bankrupt.

The Green Party itself has a better chance of blocking these sham candidates than the Democrats due to the free association clause of the First Amendment. The Arizona Green Party doesn't want to associate with them, so just like the Boy Scouts not allowing gays, the court should uphold the right of the Green Party to decide can call themselves "Green".

Maybe the Democrats should try to actually be a little progressive and actually differentiate themselves from the Republicans if they want to win an election. Or they could just strip some people of their remaining dignity and rights as citizens...whatever.

One of the "sham" candidates, Richard Grayson in the 6th C.D., has been a registered Green in Pinal County for two years and his website lists his support of the Ten Key Values of the Green Party. He favors Medicare for all, an end to funding of wars in Iraq and Afghanistan, more federal stimulus spending, gay marriage, abortion rights, and climate change legislation. He is not a Republican plant by any means.

I am sure there are some Democrats will insist on performing a prick test on you. If you bleed red then out you go - if you bleed green then you are keen!
