Stephen Drew: 4 extra-base hits Wednesday

Stephen Drew went 4-4 and hit two home runs Wednesday night in San Diego.

And that's where the good news ends for the Arizona Diamondbacks, who lost 9-3 to the Padres, extending the Pads' NL West lead to 6.5 games and giving them the best record in the National League.

D-Backs starting pitcher Joe Saunders could get through only four innings, giving up nine runs (six of them earned), including a three-run homer to Adrian Gonzalez and a two-run homer to Miguel Tejada.

The D-Backs have not beaten the Padres in Petco Park in eight games this year. They will try to snap that string today at 3:35 p.m. The starting pitchers are scheduled to be Ian Kennedy and Kevin Correia. No TV. Radio: KTAR 620 AM.
