Argument Over UFC Fight Leads to Gilbert Shooting

There's an argument to be made that violence on TV leads to violence in the real world. A Glendale man may have contributed to this argument.

Police say 32-year-old Kemonte Tremayne Wesson was arrested early Sunday morning for shooting a 37-year-old man with whom he had an argument.

The argument, as dumb as it sounds, was over an Ultimate Fighting Championship match.

Wesson and the victim were watching a UFC fight when the argument broke out. The argument spilled on to an area surface street and ended when police say Wesson, while driving his car, shot the victim.

The shooting happened near Williams Field and Higley roads in Gilbert. The victim reported the shooting just after midnight, but by the time police responded to the scene, Wesson was gone.

Cops spotted his car in the area, though, and arrested Wesson near Gilbert and Pecos roads.

The victim was taken to an area hospital with injuries described as non-life-threatening.

It's unclear what about the UFC fight sparked the argument but watching two grown men rolling around topless with each other is bound to lead to discrepancies -- primarily, arguments over how borderline-gaybo UFC fighting is.

Wesson was booked on charges of aggravated assault and drive by shooting.
