New York Mets Seek Revenge Against Lowly D-Backs Later
One of the high points in an otherwise dismal season for the Arizona Diamondbacks came about ten days ago in downtown Phoenix, when the lowly reptilians swept the New York Mets in a three-game series.
The vagaries of this year's schedule make it possible for the NL East squad to exact its revenge starting in just a few hours, in the first of three games back East at Citi Field.
The Mets are a .scrappy 500 team in a very competitive division, what with the Atlanta Braves, and Philadelphia Phillies currently battling for supremecy.
The D-Backs are one of the worst teams in baseball.
We note that Arizona righthander Ian Kennedy will be starting against John Pelfrey in tonight's game.
Both have similar stats--earned run average, strikeout-to-walk ratio, games started (20) all that good stuff.
Hell, the dudes were born in the same year--1984
But Pelfrey has ten wins to Kennedy's five, which is much more of a testament to how poorly the D-Backs have performed for their pitcher than vice-versa,
We like Mets third-baseman David Wright, who has been slumping and reemerges tonight after the obligatory "day off." Watch for him to have a good one.
The game will be televised on Channel 34 (FSAZ) starting at 4 p.m. Radio as usual is at KTAR620 on the AM dial.
