Arizona Sheriffs Team Up for Latest John McCain Campaign Ad; Nickle Bag Joe Didn't Make the Cut
|Somebody didn't get invited to the party.|
Absent from the bunch: America's self-proclaimed "toughest sheriff," Joe Arpaio.
A tough-on-immigration ad just doesn't seem like a tough-on-immigration ad without Arpaio's jowly mug hoggin' the camera, but McCain campaign spokesman Brian Rogers tells New Times the McCain campaign didn't even ask Arpaio if he wanted in.
Arpaio, you may recall, endorsed McCain's primary opponent, former Congressman J.D. Hayworth.
Pardon the pun, but talk about pickin' the wrong horse.
So, Rogers says, Arpaio wasn't exactly a top candidate to lead McCain's parade of Arizona sheriffs -- that honor went to Pinal County Sheriff Paul Babeu, or "Sheriff Paul" as he's now known in certain circles.
