Yuma Mayor Al Krieger Calls Gays "Lacy-Drawered, Limp-Wristed People"

• There was no need to do any gay bashing in the Gettysburg address...being gay was almost unheard of ...so no need for it. Go Mayor Krieger...We need more men like you to stand up and not mince words!

• <p>I'm a Christian. I'm an employer also. I happen to have been in the area- on a mission, without really telling anyone about it. I came here because of family, and the fact that Yuma has 29.6 percent unemployment. I've seen both sides of the equation in Yuma- nepotism, Xenophobia, ignorance, a sense of entitlement, and of course, the homophobia. Fortunately, I found a place to feel like none of that matters. It was the singularly most challenging year of my adult life so far. Out of compassion for others...unless you are really centered, and can move away from here, don't EVEN think about coming here. It's a really harsh climate for business or jobs unless you want to take advantage of others- no one has the skills you need to build a real enterprise, so skip it altogether. I'm a goner for more than one reason. </p>

• <p>My husband and I previously considered moving to Arizona, as our son and daughter-in-law live there and are expecting our first grandchild, yet hearing what this mayor said in his speech, insulting well respected american citizens who respect the law, hold senior positions is highly respected companies, pay thousands of dollars in taxes... I can go on and on about the integrity and value of the majority of gay people in our country and this mayor who should not be in a position of power is allowed to make this statement. In my opinion and I'm sure most americans will agree, this man should be asked to step down and be considered an embarrassment to the state of Arizona and our country. </p>

Politically, we have given this nation Cesar Chavez, Barry Goldwater, the Miranda rights. And today we bring them assholes like Pearce, Krieger, Arpaio, Brewer, McCain, Hayworth, et al. I'm keeping hope that Arizonans will recognize how these idiots are using your fear to simply be re-elected. They understand that Arizonans are among the most miserable, unemployed, indebted, people with among the most negative equity in the nation. </p> <p>And they've effectively found someone to blame for your misery.
