It's been nearly a month since ASU student Kyleigh Sousa was killed during a robbery-gone-wrong in the parking lot of a Tempe International House of Pancakes, and nobody should be comforted by the fact that the killer is still on the loose.

Sousa's mother and brother, Karen Montenegro and Bernie Sousa, came to Tempe from their home in New Jersey yesterday to try to stir up some new leads and renew their plea with the killer to turn himself in and ease some of the pain the loss has caused the family.

"That's all it takes for a case like this -- is one lead or one tip to change the whole landscape of the case," Sousa told reporters before he and Montenegro visited the crime scene and laid flowers where Kyleigh was killed.

The suspect was driving either a Chrysler 300 or Dodge Charger similar to the one in the photo.
We spoke to Montenegro last week, and she vowed to continue the search for her daughter's killer and to make sure that we media folk don't forget that there's a killer on the loose.

"People need to remember this person is still in Tempe -- or at least in your area," she says. "This could happen again."

Since Sousa was killed, police have received more than 300 tips from people who Montenegro says are just concerned citizens trying to help.

Sousa's case, Montenegro told us, may soon get some help from John Walsh and America's Most Wanted, too.

Meantime, check out the police sketch of the suspect and the car he was driving (both above), and if you have information that could help police track down the suspect, call Tempe police at 480-WITNESS or 480-948-6377, text "SILENT plus your message" to CRIMES (274637), or go online to www.silentwitness.org.
