U.S. Secretary of State Hillary Clinton may have let the cat out of the bag when it comes to the federal government's apparent plans to sue Arizona over the state's controversial, new immigration law.

In an unscripted interview with an Ecuadorian television station today, Clinton says the Justice Department -- at the direction of President Barack Obama -- will be "bringing a lawsuit against the act."

Calls to the U.S. Department of Justice to confirm Clinton's comments were not returned this afternoon but the Huffington Post is reporting that neither the DoJ nor the White House are denying the claim.

"Asked about Clinton's remarks, White House Press Secretary Robert Gibbs
urged the Huffington Post to send queries to the DoJ. The department's
spokesman, Matt Miller, replied with the following: 'The department
continues to review the law,'" Huff Post reports.

In late April, Obama first announced he supported an investigation into the new law, which is set to take effect on July 29, assuming it isn't blocked by lawsuits that have already been filed.

Obama, however, has not taken any action against the bill other than to hold hearings at which U.S. Attorney General Eric Holder admitted that he hadn't even read the law.

With Clinton's claim that a lawsuit is on the horizon, let's hope the AG's taken the time to thumb through the new law -- we hear it's great bathroom reading.
