A Coconino County sheriff's deputy busted a cap in the ass of a vicious pit bull near Flagstaff after the dog attacked a stroller being pushed by a neighbor of the dog's owner.

According to the Coconino County Sheriff's Office, about 8:40 a.m. yesterday, dispatchers got a call from a woman who said she was being attacked by a pit bull in the Doney Park neighborhood of Flag.

The dog, the woman claimed, ran off of a nearby porch as she was walking her 3-year-old child in a stroller and walking her dog on a leash. The pit bull, she claimed, approached her in "an aggressive manner."

After charging the woman, she claims the dog lunged at her, bit a piece of the stroller, and locked its jaws.

The woman began to hit the dog with a metal rod she happened to be carrying until it eventually retreated back to the porch.

When a sheriff's deputy got to the scene, he tried to contact the dog's owner by approaching the house but was unsuccessful because the dog continued to act aggressively -- at one point, the officer claims, he had to run back to his police cruiser to avoid being attacked.

Officers contacted the dog's owner by phone, but she was at work and told deputies she wouldn't be able to come deal with the dog until about 3 p.m.

Big mistake.

The deputy then called animal control to come and tranquilize the animal, but a crowd of neighbors who knew the animal had gathered at the scene. That's when the dog again left the porch and charged the neighbors.

The officer, police say, had to position himself between the neighbors and the dog to keep it from attacking them.

At that point, the deputy had apparently had enough. He pulled out his gun and shot and killed the animal.

I Own Two Pit Bulls, and they are a very good breed. I do think it is the owners fault for not keeping the dog on a leash. But how many little dogs do you see running around, that bark at you agressively? They are just to small to do anything. And your not scard of them, Pit bulls have been sterio typed by all the crule people out there. This problem is not the breed it is the owners. We should shoot the owners as well as the dog.
