Police say a tattoo similar to this one was found on the body of a woman discovered dead in the Salt River yesterday.
The Avondale Police Department is asking the public's help in identifying the body of a woman found dead in the Salt River over the weekend, and it's hoping a tattoo (pictured) found on the body will help.

Yesterday, a fisherman found the body on the bottom of the river near Indian Springs and El Mirage roads about 1 p.m.

The woman was described as between 20 and 25 years old, 5-foot-2 to 5-foot-4 inches tall, 100 to 110 pounds, with long brown hair and blue eyes.

The cause of death is unclear, but police say the body has some distinguishing characteristics -- like the tattoo, which is on the top of her foot, and a navel piercing.

The woman was wearing a tee-shirt with a yin yang symbol on the front.

Anyone with information about the body or the tattoo is asked to call Detective David Jones with the Avondale Police Department at 623-333-7227 or Silent Witness at 480-WITNESS.
