Augustus Shaw Now Says He'll "Vigorously" Fight Residency Complaint

On the heels of saying he's contemplating dropping out of the race, residentially challenged Republican State House candidate Augustus Shaw now says he'll stay in the fight.

We're not sure why he's bothering -- it certainly appears he tried to pull a fast one on voters by claiming he lives in his in-laws' home in District 17.

But Shaw says he simply can't let his supporters down.

In response to an e-mail from New Times asking if he'll attend Thursday's court hearing to address the complaint, Shaw responded:

Yes. I will hire an attorney and defend myself. The Arizona Republican Party
will assist me. There are too many people who support me. I owe it to them
to fight this charge vigorously and keep my name on the ballot.

One thing's for sure -- it ought to be entertaining if Shaw does attend the hearing and tries to explain why sleeping at his in-laws' house Tuesday through Friday (if he even does that) qualifies him to represent his in-laws' legislative district.
