• <p>Ouch, the American Bar Association. </p> <p>It should be noted that the ABA accredits every law school in the nation. From Harvard, Columbia, and Yale Law on down to the smallest state law schools. Meaning, every attorney in this nation that practices law, had to graduate from an ABA-accredited school. I don't think most people with an IQ under 60 understand the monumental weight the ABA carries. That would be like the American Medical Association challenging some FDA-approved drug as unsafe and issuing and injunction to stop distribution. </p> <p>I'm sure Brewer will just brush it off and call it a pathetic attempt at amnesty (ever notice she calls everyone and anyone that dares to question her made-up statistics "pathetic"? Like the people that dared to point out her father did not die fighting the Nazi regime in Germany, they were all just "pathetic.") </p> <p>The real world sure is hard for someone whose only higher education is a certificate to take x-ray pictures. Seriously, it's like watching my great-grandma, if my great-grandma was a hateful witch. I imagine she would also be astounded that she could be fact-checked in an instant. I'm sure she would also be easily confused by complex issues of law, much like Brewer currently is. </p> <p>I don't think it's a coincidence that most of the legislators who stand behind the law have little legal training, and the legislators that stand against it, have far more training and education. <br /> The best example is the exchange between Sylvia Allen and Krysten Sinema. When I read the letters, I couldn't help but notice the vast difference in language and articulation. Sinema was thoughtful and well-spoken, and Allen was... well, sounding like a graduate of the Brewer School of Politics. Then I decided to look up their credentials. Ms. Sinema has a law AND master's degree, and is on her way to a Ph.D! The (un)surprising fact was in Sylvia Allen's bio: the woman just has a license to deal real estate, no wonder her letter was legally unsound and utterly ridiculous. </p>

• <p>Considering that this 27-page amicus brief (which recommends a preliminary injunction of SB 1070 until the law's constitutionality can be resolved by the court) has been filed by the American Bar Association, this particular amicus brief packs a wallop. </p> <p>The American Bar Association represents the legal profession and practicing attorneys nationwide, not just attorneys who practice law in Arizona. I can think of no better voice to be recognized and heard from than the American Bar Association. My commendations to the ABA for this forthright endeavor in making its voice be heard. </p>

• <p>There was a very well articulated report prepared by several law professors from ASU and U of A (including the dean of the U of A law school) which absolutely slammed 1070. The report found that the law is impractical, unconstitutional, and nearly impossible to implement. Should be required reading for all Arizonans. </p>

Brewer went to GCC, Kobach is a part-time "law professor" at a barely accredited law school, Pearce took a weekend seminar sponsored by Harvard Business School, and FAIR is a white supremacist hate group. The folks at equityct@yahoo.com confirm that blogger Tommy Collins, James King, and many others have those documents, and have NEVER COME UP WITH ANY ARGUMENTS TO REFUTE THE AIRTIGHT CASE.</p> <p>As back-up, The Associates are now preparing a parallel state action against Phoenix in Maricopa County Superior Court, with claims for GROSS NEGLIGENCE, BREACH OF FIDUCIARY DUTY, and CONSPIRACY, with PHIL GORDON, JACK HARRIS, and many other city officials named as co-defendants with Phoenix. </p> <p>An E-mail purportedly from STOLLER himself said, "...those f..kin' lamebrains better get that f--kin' filin' fee paid this time or Ill have their f---kin' heads." OK, we never said this guy was a brain surgeon, and if you remove all of his obscenities, HE HAS NOTHING TO SAY. • <p>I too believe this is very significant. And according to this article it's the AMERICAN Bar Association, not just the Arizona Bar Association. </p> <p>That is a BIG deal. </p>

• <p>I have to believe the ABA will carry some significant weight with it's brief in this matter. </p> <p>It's one thing to have ACLU submitting a brief, because that's what they do. It's one more thing to have Mexico submit a brief, because it's certainly in their best interest to lose some of their population. </p> <p>It might even be said that the Arizona Bar Association might submit a brief and have it pretty much ignored. But when the bar association is representing all of it's members on a matter of constitutional law, then that, my friends, is going to carry some weight and influence with the court. </p> <p>Whatever happened to the hero of MCSO, Pissin Rick Galeener? He seems to have faded away into obscurity. He was quite the champion of Stoller and Kids for a while. Until he was not able to serve a certain subpoena...</p> <p>With a bit of luck and some really good timing, the injunction will be issued on July 28th, with a hearing for the last week before the general election. That result should cook many political geese...</p>
