Scottsdale MILF Starts Social-Networking Site for "Cougars" Seeking "Cubs"
Shelli Netko, 48, probably is one of Scottsdale's more creative "cougars" and is using the Internet to make "the hunt" for "cubs" (a.k.a. younger dudes) a little easier.
Last month, Netko launched the Web site Cougarsandco.com, designed to bring "cougars" together with their prey for a variety of different social events.
Netko tells New Times that Cougars & Co. isn't like your standard dating Web site, such as Match.com, where people are matched based on a compatibility scale. Cougars & Co. is more like a social-networking forum like Facebook, where users with a common interest meet and organize events.
"We host social events for our 'cougars' and 'cubs,'" she says, "whatever happens, happens."
Netko has a background in event planning and started the Web site after hanging out with her kids, in their 20s, and their friends.
"We'd be hanging out, and some of their friends would joke, 'Hey, is your mom coming tonight," she says.
That's when Netko was hit with the idea to create a forum for "cougars" and "cubs."
Netko says there's no formal definition of a "cougar" or a "cub," but the designations stem from age difference.
In other words, for a 70-year-old woman, a 50-year-old man could be considered a "cub."
According to Netko, the group is primarily dominated by "cubs" looking for "cougars," with about a 5-to-1 cub-to-cougar ratio.
Netko's Web site organizes parties, vacations, and various other hunting grounds, including a Sex and the City 2 party this Wednesday.
If you're a "cougar" in search of a "cub," a "cub" searching for a "cougar, or just someone who likes to party, Netko says her Web site's for you.
