Morning Poll -- Sonoran Tourism Ad: Threat or Misinterpretation?

threatad.jpg
These are two versions of the "threatening" ad. The one on the right appeared in Friday's Arizona Republic, the one on the left appeared in the daily Saturday.
As we reported yesterday, the Sonoran Tourism Board ran an ad in the Arizona Republic over the weekend that some Arizonans are viewing as a threat and even prompted Joe Arpaio to call for a boycott of Mexico.

The original version ran on Friday and features what appears to be a Mexican soldier looking through binoculars with the words "in Sonora we are looking for people from Arizona."

In the Republic's Saturday edition, the second version appeared. As you can see in the above photo, it looked the same as the earlier one, except that it contained the words "who want to have a great time," as well as the reflection of what appears to be a kick-ass, Mexican beach party in the soldier's binoculars.

Sonora Tourismo, the organization that paid for the ad, is now saying there is no threat and the ad was intended to run as a two-part series.

However, people -- namely the pro-SB 1070 crowd -- are still saying the ad was intended to intimidate Arizonans in response the Arizona's controversial, new immigration law.

We want to know what you think: Was the ad a threat intended to scare Arizonans, or is it just being misinterpreted?

See the results of yesterday's poll after the jump.

Yesterday's poll: Can the Phoenix Suns rally to beat the Los Angeles Lakers?

-72 percent said yes.

-11 percent said no.

-17 percent said they never stood a chance in the first place.
