Kurt Warner back in his Barnstormer days.
Kurt Warner, the notorious "nice guy" who took the Arizona Cardinals to the Super Bowl for the first time ever two seasons ago, will have his number retired by the Iowa Barnstormers on Friday.

With all the accolades Warner racked up in his 12 years in the NFL, you might think having his number retired by an arena league team in Iowa would be somewhat beneath him.

It is -- but Kurt's a nice guy and apparently is willing to play along.

Warner will be on hand this Friday in Des Moine as the guest broadcaster for the Barnstormers when they play the Arizona Rattlers.

Warner won't just be flappin' his gums behind the mic -- the team plans to honor its former QB by retiring his number at the game.

"We think it's great for the Barnstormer fans to have him back," says Jeff Lamberti, the Barnstormers' managing owner. "He is clearly the most famous Iowa Barnstormer and most famous guy coming out of arena football. He's great for our league, and we're thrilled that he wants to broadcast our game."

Warner played for the Barnstormers from 1995 to 1997, after losing a job in the NFL with the Green Bay Packers (you may have heard of the guy who beat him out for the job -- his first name's Brett, and he's apparently planning on playing football forever).

Warner led the Barnstormers to back-to-back Arena Bowls -- arena football's equivalent of the Super Bowl.

It was while Warner was with the Barnstormers that he was stocking shelves at a grocery store to support himself -- a now-legendary bit of Warner's lore.

Warner left arena football for the NFL in 1998, when he earned a spot on the St. Louis Rams roster.

Warner went on to be the NFL's Most Valuable Player in 1999 and 2001 and led the St. Louis Rams to Super Bowl XXXIV in 2000, where he was the game's MVP.

Warner ended his career with the Arizona Cardinals earlier this year.

WHY!!!!!!!????? At least with the rams or cardinals...... Shit you played with the rams 6 years and 5 for the cardinals, so one of them should have retired him not an arena team!!!
