Phoenix has gotten sort of a bad rap lately -- ya know, the miserable economy, the housing bust, the Legislature being hell-bent to return Arizona to its wild west days -- but according to a recent study, Phoenix is a great place to be for recent college grads.

The Web sites Apartments.com and Careerrookie.com conducted a study to determine the cities most friendly to recent college grads, and Phoenix ranked number two on the list.

The study compares the cost of renting an apartment, the concentration of young adults, and the cities' job inventory, specifically jobs that require less than a year's experience. About 200 cities were considered.

Phoenix's high marks come on the back of low apartment prices.

According to the study, the average price of a one-bedroom apartment in Phoenix is $669 per month.

Cincinnati, Ohio, is the only city on the list with lower apartment prices, with the average price of a one bedroom being $613.

Those prices are in comparison to some of the priciest apartment markets like New York City, where the price of a closet-sized, quaint one-bedroom will run you an average of $1,366 a month, or Los Angeles, where the average price is $1,319.

Atlanta got the top spot for the city most-friendly to recent college grads.

Other cities that made the top 10 are Denver, Dallas, Boston, Philadelphia, New York, Cincinnati, Baltimore, and LA.
