Brain Scans on Your iPhone? Yeah, There's an App for That, and They're Testing it Out in Scottsdale

Researchers at the Mayo Clinic in Scottsdale are conducting clinical trials on a new iPhone app that would allow doctors to view brain scans with their iPhones.
The new app was designed by Ross Mitchell, a radiology professor at the University of Calgary, in conjunction with his students and his private firm, Calgary Scientific Inc.
The app, called Resolution MD Mobile Software, allows doctors to check out three-dimensional medical images in high definition on a standard iPhone.
The idea behind the app is to allow doctors to give a speedier diagnosis, as well as to share the scan with multiple doctors anywhere in the world -- or, more accurately, anyplace AT&T gets service, which, as most AT&T subscribers know, could pose a problem.
The app is considered a medical device, so it would have to be approved by the U.S. Food and Drug Administration, which hasn't happened yet.
The app has been licensed in Canada, though, and is being tested for use on a iPad so doctors can view the scans on a larger screen.
